Thanks for this 666. On Server 2016, I grabbed the directory from Ent, and registered all manifests. All apps are there. They update and work fine. However, new apps do not install like you mentioned. I guess you can install some apps in Ent, then move them to server. I will test this. Admin account is okay, you just need to enable UAC notifications for admin: Code: Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options > User Account Control: Use Admin Approval Mode for the built-in Administrator account: Enabled Then you can put UAC to min and it should work. Where exactly is the freaking WINDOWS SPOTLIGHT?
You had an account there. Do you see Spotlight? Does this require logging in to windows with MS account?
This works. I installed couple of free apps on Win10E. Then I copied their directories from WindowsApps to 2016 Server. Registered them. They work fine. A lean and mean Store that cannot install or update anything! (But can get me Weather and Alarms working) Just what the doc ordered To make apps work with built-in Admin account: Code: gpedit.msc Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options > Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode: Enabled User Account Control: Admin Approval: Enabled Restart
I'd like to mention that enabling Admin Aproval Mode for built-in Admin started giving "Access Denied" errors everywhere even though owner of the files is Administrator. For example, Outlook cannot access its data file. I have to manually add "Users" to it even though Admin has access. This phone operating system designed for idiots with monochrome display devices started pissing me off by hampering everything with restrictions as soon as I changed Admin mode. I decided a couple of pesky Store apps are not worth the hassle and removed the store and Admin approval mode and wrote a perl script to update my lock-screen image from daily Bing images. Welcome back sanity.
So do we have an easy way to now install windows 10 apps and games on Server 2016? I gave up trying when server 2016 came out hoping there is a real working fix now?
Sadly, no. I too long ago gave up on a quick and easy method for Windows Server, as explained here https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...erver/page22?p=1285570&viewfull=1#post1285570 ^ In it I detail on how it can be done (the long method, which does work, but it is very time consuming). Beyond that, I'm clueless on how to make it easier for Windows Server and it's not for the lack of trying. This works easily for Windows Enterprise LTSB (both 2015 and 2016). See post #1 where all you have to do is download the package, install, and you're all good. But sadly, it will take the efforts of someone more skilled than I, if it is ever to work for Windows Server without using their business store.
Hello, I try to install the applications on Windows Server 2016 Standard. I managed to install egde using the pakage of MSMG ToolKit: dism /online /add-package:C:\Microsoft-Windows-Internet-Browser-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.14393.0.cab dism /online /add-package:C:\Microsoft-Windows-Internet-Browser-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~fr-FR~10.0.14393.0.cab But impossible to install other, I copy my Windows Apps folder from my Windows 10 Pro to my Windows 2016 and I'm Recorded with The Following commands: Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsCalculator_10.1611.3123.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppxManifest.xml" Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsCalculator_10.1611.3123.0_neutral_split.language-fr_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppxManifest.xml" I have the calculator icon in the start menu, calculator starts and closes instantaneously (like all the Apps installed in this way) ... I also tested with these pakage: solidfiles.com/v/QknxXArpLRdvv dism /online /add-package:Microsoft.WindowsCalculator_2016.1108.111.0_neutral_-_8wekyb3d8bbwe.AppxBundle But I have errors ... Can you explain how you get there ?
That wouldnt be so bad, but it doesnt seem to have all the apps / games. I purchased Gears of War and Forza and they do not show up for business store at all so Its not a solution sadly
You'd have to re-purchase it via the business store as Microsoft Store treats every email address as it's own independent account. Even if you used your own email to register for that business store account, keep in mind, they're going to use the Microsoft Business Account email they gave you during sign up. So the game you bought it likely associated with your other (personal, non-business) email account Side note: I do not advise you to buy anything using the business account as I cannot guarantee it will work. edit: Updated title as to specify that this really should only be used for Windows Enterprise LTSB as I have no solution for Windows Server and I've basically abandoned the concept of trying to get this to work on Windows Server... Which I've repeatedly expressed... Someone else (not me) will need to resolve it. I'm focusing all my support on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB
Added offline instructions to post #1 (plain_text_format) as well as share (and backup) format (bb_form_format). Attached in this post too for good measure
I installed the Windows store (login with my microsoft account) and strangely at the 1st launch I was able to install an application (MSN Weather) then after more no others ! So I created a "Business Store" account and put applications in my "private store". In Windows store I am log out of my microsoft account and logged in with my "Business Store" account. My applications are visible I was able to install one (Bing News) but all the others refuse to settle ... I do not understand why ! Edit: Business Store work with windows 10 but not with my 2016 server.
Alright, so you're using Windows Server, which I do not support because Microsoft really makes that a pain in the 'backside'. Basically, you're at their mercy of what they'll approve or disapprove. Some apps will install fine and others will silently fail without reason or explanation. This is why I'm focusing all my support on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB; as you do not have to go jumping through hoops and you do not need a business store account.
