Amen brother - like trying to get your 2nd wife to look like your 1st wife.

I dual boot between 7 and 8, use 8 99.9% of the time

I have a start menu already, but, win8 does not have a "pin to start menu" option anymore.

Yea, I like Vistart, just two problems with it. Splash screen on start-up:mad: and it is slow to load.
Anyway to remove splash screen would be less annoying. Didn't find anything in regedit. Guess ya cant have everything :dunno:

    hi

It’s basically creating a Tile on Metro screen

    1. Go to C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
    2. Right click and click on “New Shortcut”
    3. Now under shortcut type in C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0
    4. Now click on Next and finish.

Right then, it performs a standard shutdown.
Not the Hybrid boot one, do you know the right string to perform the "hybrid boot" one from the charm bar menu/settings???

Damn... MS has really got to be ROFLTAO watching us trying to figure how to enable a start menu.
Not criticizing just wondering. W7 had some hurdles for us to overcome, even activation issues.. but really,a start menu?? :pIf I could help I would, but not as smart as most you folks out there on this Forum.

I did the same thing. I tried the various methods to bring back the start menu and realized I would rather have the new Win8 UI.

My 24" inch "smart"-computer doesn't like it because my mouse has a too small pointer. :-/

Why don't you just make your mouse pointer larger? Very simple thing to do.

I just want to be able to pin to start menu again. Or if the start "Screen" didnt take up the whole screen, then i would be happy with pinning stuff to the start "screen"

Almost everything else is fine to me.

Ummm.. what about all the boot speed, performance boost and decreased hardware utilization to be expected from an OS that's focused on running on lighter gear. Surely you've taken notice of this while staring at winver, I mean testing builds.

As for me, I need Server 8 for ReFS and for ReFS to be killer or at least decent. That way I don't have to run unix/linux from a hyper-v box just for the ZFS file system.

Then if I'm going to run Server 8, might as well run the faster booting Win8 on the rest of my PCs, with or (preferably without) Immersive.

Has anyone tried this Metro Cheat: hxxp://lysy1993lbn.deviantart.com/art/Metro-Cheat-for-WDP-v0-2-278541275
    or Classic Shell: hxxp://classicshell.sourceforge.net
    Replace xx with tt :D
P.S. Personally, I'm waiting for another version of Win8 where start menu will be back and no metro-gui.
Otherwise I'll stick with Windows 7 until windows 9 comes out. :D
