    Alrite, thx, perfect. If both classic shell and this trick still work in RTM, I'm all set and ready for W8! ;)

    Didn't I just mention that above? "Put a shortcut to any Show Desktop command at startup". However that doesn't disable Metro, it boots to Metro first, then shows the desktop.

    you can grab it from stardock's site. it's available. I started to use it today on x64 consumer preview. no issues found yet.

    There is a Classic Shell skin on AskVG.com now available to make it look exactly like the Windows 7 Start Menu. Google for it.
