as an fyi to everyone, if you backed up a leaked key (NO I DONT HAVE EM) your activation will no longer work
Hi there... I'd just like to ask what are the specific hardware changes that break Windows activation. I kinda screwed up my activation just now by installing updates to my HDD and now my backup store folder doesn't work. Thanks for the info and I hope others wouldn't commit the same mistake I did.
Dear MDL members and readers! I have now deleted my KMS activation backup permanently and Windows 8 as well. As you might have noticed I haven't been very active lately here for a couple of days. I know I have been showing you that I have positive feelings towards Windows 8 and I liked it, but deep down I missed Windows 7 Ultimate so much and once I installed it again and restored my old trusty Windows 7 activation backup I was home baby! I have everything I ever wanted with Windows 7, why should I waste money on something new? If it ain't broke don't fix it....just yet since I know Windows 7 won't last forever but a few good years still. Since I won't be using Windows 8 again and now that my life is back to normal, this guide will not be updated anymore. The feedback I have received from most of you have been positive, the method does work but not for some and isn't that true for most things in life? It feels like I'm ditching you all again but I also have to tell you that I'm starting a new job on Monday, a new job that is so far away from everything IT as possible. Well then I guess this is goodbye yet again. Don't miss me, I will be back at some point but for now I bid you all adieu!
Just thought I'd share my experience just now. I activated Windows 8 Pro back when the benrodriguez kms server was up. This was on an ASUS G50VT with an Intel Core 2 Duo. I just got a used ASUS G73jw Intel Core i7 and decided to pop my hard drive in since it is a SSD. I fully expected to have to reinstall Windows 8 and be unable to activate. So I say what the hell and turn on the PC. Windows 8 boot symbol appears/ spinning wheel then below that "Configuring 0%" and continues to 100%. To my surprise there is the screen formerly known as metro. And what do you know still activated. Updated a few drivers, a few reboots and still, activated. Aren't I lucky?

I'm glad that you found a program that suits your needs perfectly. AFAIK the bootable version is permanent .
