    i'd like to think so, there won't be anymore problems with activation even if you do a clean install. although you have to use the same product key that Windows 8 was activated with.

    Currently my Windows 8 Enterprise is activated.

    However the "Device Manager" shows many incompatible drivers with yellow flags such as:

    - AMD Radeon HD 7730 switchable-enabled graphics
    - Realtek Conexant HD audio drivers
    - Synapticad/Elan Touchpad drivers
    - Intel Chipset Software Installation drivers

    I believe that when Windows 8 is officially launched on October 26, all of the above incompatible drivers will be replaced by Windows 8-compatible ones by their respective software publishers.

    My question is: If I update my current incompatible device drivers to compatible ones on or after October 26, will my Windows 8 Enterprise lose its activation status?

    I'm guessing that you mean there will be newer drivers from Windows Update? Perhaps, but then again maybe not. BTW, I have the latest Intel chipset installer and latest RealTek HD audio drivers and no yellow flags in Device Manager.

    it would be a good idea to back up the store folder, just in case the product key you have fails to activate Windows 8.

    Not Windows Update but from the respective hardware manufacturers, for example, AMD will have to release the Radeon HD 7730 switchable-enabled graphics device drivers by October 26.

    Forgot to switch from ide to ahci the last time I clean install windows 8 and so i reinstall windows 8 and use this method and it works. this method is very easy to follow, thanks a lot, JaguarXJ12! it save me from installing windows 7 again, i love windows 8 more than windows 7 it boots 2x faster than windows 7 on my msi gt683 laptop and almost all the software i use on windows 7 works on it and the drivers too because msi provides drivers installer on their site compatible for windows 8.

    After following your procedure to restore activation, I didn't successfully restored my activation. But what's worse is that I cannot install a product key using slmgr because it gives me the following error: Error 0xC0000022 On a computer running a Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xC0000022' to display the error text. How do I fix this? I am running on a previously activated Windows 8 Enterprise x64. I hope i would not to resort to formatting my PC to fix this.

    Work perfectly with my laptop: 8 Professional MSDN x86.

    First of all, I do not use slmgr /upk and directly copy store folder to system32/spp, and it still showed up Windows is not activated when I restart, but when I remove the old key and recopy, it worked!

    Thanks for your solution.

    Copy and paste this into notepad and save as own.reg

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas]
    @="Take Ownership"
    "NoWorkingDirectory"=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas\command]
    @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas]
    @="Take Ownership"
    "NoWorkingDirectory"=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command]
    @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"
    Merge it into the registry then you can right click files or folders and take ownership :)

    Just wanted to say thanks it worked PERFECT! For some reason before this I could not just install the new NV drivers.. then after trying that I could not install the older no undo no restore working lol.

    How I made it work was follow what OP said. Make sure I made the SAME USER and the NAME I gave the PC, made sure same drive and so on.. Thats it.

    People, I have a question. If I have partitioned Windows 8, but have it activated and I format the whole PC by deleting Win 8's partition, can I still have the activation?

    Markee, Mozilla Backup (FFox, full backup and restore - TBird, too, if you decide to move from Outlook.)
    Code:
    h**p://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/
    For Outlook - Easy Backup, Outlook Backup Assistant, or Backup Outlook (Google them.) I've used all at one time or another but prefer TBird these days.

    I've changed hard drives, the graphics card, dvd/CD writers (different brand), even upgraded memory on my WN7 PC without any activation problems - just turn off the PC, remove whatever, reboot (clear CMOS), turn off, install hardware. reboot, check BIOS settings, and reboot into WindBlows, Voila (..?)
    Granted, though, 8 may well be different.

    Would my activation be null and void if my RAM changes? I'm planning to double my RAM today and I'm reluctant to buy some RAM since it might screw up my Windows activation. :c
