Sorry of this particular qquestion on backup and restore of win8 activation was already asked in this thread but,

I have a legit install and key for win8 pro x64 I used for install a few weeks ago on my laptop on its MBR disk/partition. I want to wipe the whole disk and create a GPT disk/layout. If I backup my win8 activation and create a GPT partition/layout will my activation detect a change at all or is it mainly looking for hardware related changes?

First you'll need to change the Product Key to an normal Retail Key! After done that, your activation will be gone already and you could activate by phone. Be carefully and use an legit Key only.

By the way: MAK key's and Phone activation using Hacktivation are NOT allowed on this forum.

    Noop...

Use Advanced Token Manager to backup the activation data, do a clean install, restore it.

Once you toy with the tool and uinderstand you will know. When you first install, you can do whatever , put any key it is fine. But when tie to restore, you have to uninstall any key if different than the one u used before back up otherwise it wont work. The tool itself will ask you to input the key...

Do we have to back up twices on Advanced Token Manager ? One for Win 8 Pro key and one for WMC key ? Can I restore it back with both keys because win 8 pro and wmc are two different keys might be a problem to restore.

    Hi,
i have a question, lets say i installed WIN8 and activated it against a KMS server, now my OS is activated for 180 days. now, i go and copy the store folder and save it. after 180 days my WIN8 is no longer activated. can i just copy my store folder and my machine is again activated for 180 days?
    thanks,

I suggest you back up win8 fresh activation and since your key now is legit for MC , you can just insert it manually to add MC. However back win8 WMC also and even have an image. Never hurts

That will not work my friend, it will be too easy , but good thinking.:D

OK, ill try that, got nothing to loose, ill do it when I'll get back home.
ill save the store folder, wait a day or 2 and copy it back, will see if activation is still for 180 days or less.
    thanks,

Which is the advantage of this method over the Advanced Tokens Manager one?

The Advanced Tokens Manager method is much better and safer that this, is an managed way.

The application make a untouched restore of the activation system without modify the activation files, restoring all activation data instead of only the SPP folder.

And, if you're only restoring the spp, your registry won't been updated, you run the risk of be flagged as non-genuine by a update that make genuine checks.

Also some activation channels can have problems with this method as the MAK.

    Some activation features of A.T.M.:

Fully restore the activation system including registry areas with the product key,
Untouched activation files after the restore, including the file attributes, permissions and creation time,
Activation update when the Operating System haven't accepted the activation files.
