Windows 8 with WMC x64 is work best under solid state drive (SSD) while the storage go to larger size of hard disk (HDD) for photo's, video's, music's, work doc's, backup's etc.

Last question. Do I need any software to backup the activation or smth? I read from the OP that backing up the folder on Win8 and following the steps will do? I was reading the thread and it suddenly led to Advance Token Manager.

Just manually copy the foolder into another drive or usb stick, nosoftware is required. Buy you could create a bat file to do it...

Sorry for the noob question, but isn't it better to make a backup system image via windows right after you have completed installing all the essentials? Does that back up the activation too? Thanks in advance for any help.

Short answer: It's not "better", just "different". Yes, an image catches the activation too.

yeah... time saving off course during reinstall but could be dangerous... for example any of the changes that were not desired were made before taking images will also be captured and will emerge for every restore u make

I have a problem now, today my PC ran into BSD and after restart its activation was gone. at first I tried "advanced tokens manager 3.5 b3" but it showed me an error with this report :
after that I tried restoring files manually and had no success again, also the same with the first post of this topic. btw windows activation shows me error code#80070422 that The service can not be started, either because its disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. and watermark is here yet. would you please help me how to recover it ?
    Win 8 Pro WMC x64

    Clear key by slmgr /upk

then try again, and make sure your windows edition and state are the same as before you ran the backup first time

    Hi,

I have a question about upgrading. I have a windows 7 home and I can upgrade to windows 8 pro for a few bucks (legal). But I don't like an upgraded pc. So I thought, maybe I can upgrade to 8 Pro and backup activation -> do a fresh install -> restore activation.

Is this possible? Or will it fail?

    Thanks.

    or
You could boot from the install media and do a clean install from the start. No need to do the above dance.

But if i buy that upgrade thing at microsoft, can i do a fresh install directly with the software i download? And will it be activated without upgrading on an activated windows 7?

    Thanks again
