Final release? lol.... Does it matter when installing WIN7 and using this method. If we leave the box checked to activate online or should we uncheck it?
lol...Not final release just Windows7RearmTask4 v1.6.1 Remember you automatically get 30-150 days trial so when installing unless you have real key uncheck that activate online box and install as usual...lol Again, all this does is reset the MAX trial given by default by MS and set up a task to rearm automatically...lol
Yeah I for got about MS giving you a few rearms during a new install. So most likely. When I am on my last rearm. Then should I use this method? Or just go ahead and do it early?
lol...Great thing about this tool is you can reset to 4 rearms whenever you want...lol But if you are actually at the end of your 4 rearms then at day 149 would be a good time to click install again and reboot into WinRE again. And don't forget to do the most fun thing of all with this tool. Change the background image to one of your choosing...lol
Clever and automated, but still requires 2 reboots (one to implement it & change registry, one to restore modded registry) compared to 1 reboot with a few manual commands in a PE My exploration path at the moment is backing up Registry, modifying backup and restoring said registry, but there are some major hurdles (like finding something to backup the entire registry, and not just the user parts, making sure it has some form of commandline accees, etc) 7
Since this is an important way to keep win 7 running, I suggest a new sticky thread with the tool updated there and instructions. Thanks.
I thought about doing a separate thread when v1.6 came out with the GUI but then I thought most of the credit goes to the OP and the guys he got ideas from. So with the GUIDE and the link in the first comment I thought it only respectful to keep the project here as to honor all it's participants.
I have great admiration for people with your ethic. I fully concur, keep it in this thread, there is no need to diverge.
Try out my new batch file with menu. Instructions are simple Run the file as Administrator New version, I have included a readme file on how to reset the rearm count.
You need to wait for a while, it queries slmgr /dlv and displays Time remaining: 43200 minute(s) (30 day(s)) Remaining Windows rearm count: 4 It is working for me correctly. Edit the bat file at line 26 and 41 change cscript.exe slmgr.vbs /dlv | FINDSTR /I "Remaining" to cscript.exe %windir%\system32\slmgr.vbs /dlv | FINDSTR /I "Remaining" and change cscript.exe slmgr.vbs /rearm to cscript.exe %windir%\system32\slmgr.vbs /rearm This file is the same deal. You need to manually set the task to run when missed. The Rearm Now will run slmgr /rearm and on success will reboot in 10 seconds. I have not included any instructions for reset.bat.
Maybe your environment variable must be pointing to Desktop instead of System32, that is the only reason i can think of as to why it did not work in the first attempt.
Remember also people, that you can just set a scheduled task to run this, so you will have no input at all !
That is what we do. The first post has come a long way and now two apps are available, one with GUI and another console.
I would still say that it would be very useful to have a new thread for this method with the file and instructions posted upfront.
You're just being lazy in following a thread. Must everything be spoon fed to you on a shiny silver platter? Good God, if it already isn't enough that you're able to use Windows 7 for "educational purposes".......
