Thanks, waiting for updated guide in order to make a clean install instead of deleting OEM crap manually :worthy:

Thanks for efforting this thread Tito. It seems like people ask constantly about their OEM system activation and how to find the key or save activation info.
It's nice that we can point them at this sticky thread instead of giving half-ass answers since we don't care enough to research everyone else's questions 100% of the time.
I usually say "there's tools to read the key from the bios, I'm sorry I don't know what they are"

    So thx bud....

What if the original HDD is already broken, and I want to OEM-install my laptop, how would I know which edition I use? Is there a way to know without booting the original HDD?

you still have to boot into windows you could use a PE disk then run tools as instructed on first page of this thread.

    So if I understand correctly:
    - OEM: DM key = inserted by OEM, can't be transfered to other computer
    - OEM: NONSLP key = if you buy an OEM version in stores, can be transfered to other computer (Personal Use license).

    Is this correct?

I bought two identical HP M6 notebooks, one is Pavilion and the other is Envy. The Pavilion comes with Windows 7 and the Envy (9 months later) with Windows 8. I updated the BIOS on both and exchanged the drives so that I could give the computer to my son without loosing my work.
Whilst both licenses are legitimate, I ended with both computers NOT activated !! I was able to reactivate them in the current configuration using the Loader for 7 and KMS for 8. Now, I cannot benefit from the free upgrade to 8.1.
I have researched and found that I could edit the BIOS and transfer the licenses between the two notebooks, but I prefer to find a simple way like 7 loader or KMS or something similar.
Not every one hoping for a work around is cheating Micro$oft, in fact I feel I lost my right to mix and match my Harware and Software.
    Simple.

RWeverything seems to be hardware specific. Just hangs on my AMD G6-2000 laptop. The newer ATI SMbus controllers are not in the supported device list
