    Would a program like Aida64 work as well retrieving the key? Not sure if it would show the actual bios key? Its a great program that shows everything about your system including key. But, like I said. Not sure if it works showing bios key. Since I am using the program but with a purchased MS key and it shows it.

    i've got a windows 8 preinstalled on dell pc , my pc become slow when i upgraded to windows 8.1.
    so i dowloaded this MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.8.1.SINGLE.LANGUAGE.RTM.X64.FRENCH.DVD-WZT
    and i installed it (so i lost my factory systeme ) , i thought it will be activated automatically cause my oririginal systeme was windows 8 single language , before installing it i've got my OEM product key to use it if not activated , when i install it
    i found it not activated so i tried my product key but they said that key not for this version .

    With a OEM machine like newer HP desktop for example that came with 8. Does it actually say either of the following. When running slmgr.vbs /dlv.

    SKU = Core

    SKU = CoreSingleLanguage

    SKU = CoreCountrySpecific

    When running the following slmgr.vbs /dlv this comes up

    Windows Standard Core

    So, that means its using the Core version yes and NOT the CoreSingleLanguage?

    there are no single core versions on MSDN. Simply run the upgrade way through store, that simple

    Thanks, but I wait for final version. (not rtm). I read on your other post that it's not yet available, so I'll wait.

    Hopefully your method get rid of bloatware. At first, I understood the contrary.

    RTM = Final. Seems that you have some wrong idea.

    Well, it's written date of release is 08/21/2013 for the torrent linked. I thought windows 8.1 came in end of october. So I figured it was not the "final" version and that a new one is going to be soon available.

    Thanks again, crystal clear.

    So when I will receive my new drive, I only have to install the core rtm x64 iso I'm currently downloading (torrent one), then use the generic key for core version and finaly activate it directely on internet. Right?
