Ooops Sorry... not dilbert but dogber1 aka dogbert. He managed to reverse engineering the bios codes and produced a very nice script(s) to generate a working master password. dogber1 dot blogspot dot com [darn this 20post rules]
hello need help here, i got blank screen on my laptop acer 4220 extensa after following the procedure.. i was able to reset the password, however when i restart my computer, i got a totally blank screen, though the power light is still on. pls help!!
This is where I am at right now - did you find a solution? I get a black screen now - no boot up the Bios must be messed up?
i dont have any idea, i tried to follow the methods on the other thread to recover the bios but still no luck.. my laptop still has no screen at all.. what is the model of your laptop? were you able to resolve it?
If your Acer spit out 5 digits error code, dogbert script can unlock it using master password but if it spit out 8 digits error code, you need to fork out some $ to unlock it. Google "$10 bios password unlock" and maybe you'll be lucky enough to find that your laptop is on the list!!
at first, thnx a lot for this awesome solution. i tried and it worked. but.... when i put it to shut down it took a quit long time to shut down, at the end it didnt, so i had to do it manually. soon after i set the power, Black screen of death !! i have been googling for the solution and i am preety sure my bios is dead. I have no idea how i fix this problem. Have done my home work, but found nothing effective. tried one method with fn esc and boot file from acer website. Now i am in big trouble and scared, my exam is pretty close, all my files are in their. what do i do?? pls help me with step by step solution with the bios booting. My specification: Acer aspire 5920 windows vista ultimate bios version (probably): 1.3813 Please let me know any other questions but please help me. thnk you
Some1 pls reply. how do i recover my blank screen...bios must be crashed. advice to others, dont try this method..u'll end up like many of us
That sounds more like a coincidental hardware damage - if you just reset the password, only some setting is written, e.g. the BIOS itself remains unchanged. Yet, you might want to try emergency recovery procedures: it boils down to the right pressing buttons when powering on the laptop with a USB stick that contains the bios flash update binary. You have to do some research for your model to find out how to precisely pull that off.
well well, after killing the Cmos, my laptop crashed. when it restarted again, first ram counting screen then a BLUE SCREEN with boot device options. nothing is working when i choose, my USB ports are not working also... Any ideas pleas :-(
very good guide, managed to erase the password as stated, but now my acer Extensa-4620z, only turn on the power button and LEDbattery charge, the screen looks off, anyone can help me :-s
thanks ...., finally resolved the problem, you were right, the BIOS will not damage the guide works perfectly, it was only necessary to remove the BIOS battery and put it back, and it worked, and save my password that I introduced whit the guide , thanks for your helpme ...
Help!!! Please... I've tried to install XP on my father's acer aspire 4710 laptop. After few hours i finally got this thread and using the cmospwd. It worked to reset the password, but then my laptop won't detected the HDD. In the bios, there's only written IDE0 with no serial. Then the boot only have 1 that says IDE0, too.. If i start the laptop i can't get the multi-boot using F-12 without any options. And if i let the laptop starts it only says "operating system not found". What should i do.... Please anyone...?? Thanks a lot...
this is my gift for this board, it's supervisor/user password reset tool how to (if you miss something it may not work then): - install acer empowering framework - install acer esettings manager - download, extract files onto desktop - run acerset.exe with admin rights and set your own password - startup acer esettings manager and goto last tab (bios settings) - delete bios password with password specified in acerset.exe - save, reboot, teset - enjoy PS. tested on acer aspire 5253 (windows 7 x86), with following versions: * EmpoweringFramework_v.3.0.3016 * ePower_v3.0.3019 * eSettings_v3.0.3011 View attachment acerset_v2.zip
After bios change password form post 1 my laptop booted black screen. Nothing works. So i dissemble laptop "acer extensa 5620z" and remove cmos battery for about 20min. Now password and laptop WORKS!!!
