OK, I get it... that's why I disable all the history of searches and all that stuff via my account... So this is the same?, Just disable telemetry and you are done? Well, I was just afraid of nothing it seems... not that they don't know how much porn I store on my HDD... Who cares?
Even if your turn off all M$ data collection tools, your all forgetting your Internet Provider is ordered by National and International Laws to Monitor and Flag and Report Folks like it or not the Internet isn't the same place you all think it is in these current times It is what it is now... use common sense just like the saying " Don't Drink and Drive" (its that simple)
Bill Gates been doing that since early 1995 and look at him now, one of the richest guys in the world
So finaly installed x64 Enterprise LTSB N and so far am extreamly impressed and happy, as for this Telementary thing I have switched of the buttons during setup, and set to 0 on gpedit as far as I can tell that should be surficient correct?
What's all the paranoia....Not like you are so important someone at MS is sitting at a terminal laughing at your pics. Just set the privacy setting the way you want. Don't use MS accounts or apps that rely on collecting data to work. Some things require access and data to operate. If you don't want that don't use them. Don't use Gmail, hotmail or any free email either, they all scan it. You think google doesn't track searches by IP? Face it don't use any MS account at all if you are paranoid....Just logging into one will pin your Hardware ID to it and probably your IP. Use VPN and make sure it is one that does not log anything if you are paranoid too. In other words mitigate it or get over it. Or get off the Net.
Hello, Could you tell me if the next step below is correct? To make a batch file out of this code and execute everytime the system initiates or is it a one-time execution to disable and another IF (big if) I want to enable it again? Does it work for any edition or is it for enterprise edition only? Thank you very much for helping us newbies.
It's more data leaching and system perf hogging than data stealing. MS would only collect data for internal meta data most likely, but still, who wants all that stuff being sent in and out?
I'm of the belief that any and all data leaving or entering a user's personal computer should be under the user's control and consent, no matter how anonymized or "insignificant" that data might be. If it's not I'll just take the control back, and give myself choices and options. It's like a game to me, I like squashing the little leaks and holes around the OS, totally locking it down and hardening security.
What about using Code: REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WMI\AutoLogger\AutoLogger-Diagtrack-Listener\ /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f on Pro instead of removing SYSTEM access from AutoLogger-Diagtrack-Listener.etl? I think it is less invasive, no retries happens and I this file does not appears again (delete it after reboot, it is initially busy).
This is not HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection\AllowTelemetry but HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WMI\AutoLogger\AutoLogger-Diagtrack-Listener\Start which works in Pro in my testing so far.
Microsoft gave Windows 10 Enterprise the ability to disable diagnostic and usage data collection, so why doesn't someone just start a petition that asks for the option to be added into all of the other Windows 10 editions? As things stand right now, there's multiple sources where people are complaining about their privacy when using Windows 10. I think that if there was a single petition that was spread around and talked about then Microsoft might be forced to do something about it. You don't know what'll happen if you don't try. Make blogs, tech news websites and websites such as reddit aware of the petition and you should get a lot of signatures.
