Nearly 1,300 children aged 0 to 17 are killed by gunshots each year in the US, and nearly 5,800 more suffer from non-lethal gunshot wounds, researchers estimate in a study published Monday in Pediatrics.

In all, about 19 children die or are wounded each day from firearms, either by homicide, suicide, or unintentional shootings. Firearm-related deaths are now the third leading cause of death among US children and the second leading cause of injury-related deaths, behind car crashes. The grim national statistics are even more startling when considered from an international perspective: the US now accounts for 91 percent of all child firearm-related deaths (aged 0 to 14) among high-income countries.

In addition to the broad figures compiled by researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the study also provides one of the most comprehensive looks yet at the factors surrounding those deaths and injuries... more

Adults that leave loaded guns around and unlocked are the ones that are responsible for these deaths. Kids probably get injured from playing with matches and lighters too. We need better educated parents to teach their kids not to get killed

you have a better chance of getting killed by a doctor.

Here's another website that everyone should take a look at. ;)

    http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/282929.php

According to that site (as of Feb, 2017), the leading cause of death is cardiovascular disease.

Accidental death by gunshot is caused by parents not locking up their firearms, which amounts to negligence on the part of the gun owning parent.

Most firearm owners I know keep their firearms inside a safe.

Yea, I read that. These deaths are a DIRECT result of the War on Drugs.

Heroin and fentanyl or a mixture of both are killing people, and not just young people experimenting. I do not know why people want to do this to themselves, but I've heard that all this fentanyl is from China

By far the leading cause of death is life. Eventually ALL will die.
