Hi all

I have a Lenovo laptop which displays 100% use for the hard drive reading when I look in task manager.
Its had a fresh install of W10 but still its reading is around 100% and apart from an occasional drop stays around the 100% mark.
Strangely the laptop does seem to be running ok though ??
Is this a failing drive ??
or not a problem ?
It cannot be software as its evident straight after the fresh install I have tried a basic chkdsk test.
thanks guys appreciate any feedback;)

I don't believe its a W10 issue as its the same with W8.1 ?
I was just wondering is this a fault with the hard drive ?
Because the laptop appears to work ok is this 100% not a problem ?

I've seen this recently on a Toshiba. It ended up being Windows 10 and/or Windows Store updates running in the background. I let it run for a few hours and it finally settled down. I have no idea why it took so long, but I had to wait for it to finish to do what i needed to with it.

Hi @logicwatch!

There are few things you can try to fix the issue. For instance, if you're using Chrome, you can go to Settings > Show Advanced Settings ... > Privacy > Prefetch resources to load pages more quickly and untick it.

If it doesn't work, then run a diagnostic check on the hard disk with some software like @lite8 suggested - the test will display what the health of the HDD is and if there are any errors or bad sectors they will be pointed out.

Hope this helps and let us know how it went. :)

Also, feel free to upload some screenshots if you run the test so we can take a look.
