i agree.. but oxidation also stops reads. (i think i was breathing on it too much while headchange and dust stuck to it also) data was recovered.. i wasnt going to pay $600+ for that simple technique. hdd is not 100% sealed most times they have that breathing hole with a lil foam to filter it.
that's why for freezer method bag is needed(with claps preferably) which won't allow water to get there.. or even few bags the point is that you need to lower temperature of heads as much as possible and it sometimes works..(depends on head damage). While replacing heads if you breath or touch platter with finger that place will become area with bad sectors.. if 0 track was touched you'll get clicking
Old post! But, I still want to share my opinions with you. Do you have restored your data back? In my experience, in your case, you could connect this drive to your computer and try to use data recovery software online such as Recuva, iCare Data Recovery Free, Easeus, etc. These data recovery software often could help the user get back their inaccessible data easily from a hard drive. But, you also could not completely rely on a data recovery program, especially when your drive is physically damaged. If these recovery programs really do not make sense, just try to consult a data recovery company. Hope this could help you.
Have you tried it on another computer after you’ve changed another enclosure? If the drive could be read/write normally there, you'd better copy off all your saved data and format this drive to see whether it could work well on your computer. But, if this drive also gets the same problem, why not try to take a chance with data recovery software. Nowadays, there are plenty of data recovery programs available online that could easily retrieve inaccessible data from a hard drive. What you should do is to select a most proper one for yourself. If you still have no idea, you could firstly choose a dive data recovery freeware to take a chance, such as: Recuva, TestDisk and iCare Data Recovery Free, etc. But, if all these programs don’t change anything, you’d better take it to a data recovery company and prepare to pay much money for the data recovery service. Important note: Do not save new data on this drive before you begin to retrieve your pictures. Do not save retrieved pictures on this card. Do not forget to back up all your needed data in the future.
