My English is not so good - sorry, but than I have a modded bios with acer slic2.1 and not with gigabyte slic2.1.
Its pointless to mod a bios with the gigabyte 2.1 slic because we still dont have a matching certificate for it.
That's what I mean, we still need a matching certificate for gigabyte 2.1 slic. Brainsuck, sorry, but I ve misunderstood you.
modded with acer one upload you bois so we can look at them or the download link to your bois from Gigabyte
Ez crew while we've got this Gigabyte thread going could someone clear this up for me please I found the BIOS mod for my mobo which is a Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 rev 1 and down loaded it I've opened it and this is whats in the notes: Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 Rev 1.0 ver F7 Used Award Slic Tool v1.16 SLP: Hewlett-Packard SLIC v2.0: HP Method: 0+2, default options Now I'm correct in thinking SLIC v2.0 is for Vista only and as I"m wanting to install on a Windows 7 OS I need SLIC v2.1? Do I need to find a BIOS mod with SLIC 2.1? This pack also contained a HP XRM.MS file I take that is the cert? Which actually go's along with what this whole thread is saying eg: using a different cert with a Gigabyte mobo
Hi, Yep, SLIC 2.0 will not work for Windows 7, for this you will need SLIC 2.1 table in the BIOS. You could search for an official update to see if they've added the SLIC 2.1 or search for a mod (can request it if there is not one). HP XRM.MS is the certificate. In the mod they have added a HP SLIC 2.0 and SLP (this is for XP activation) and the HP certificate. The modder can add any SLIC that they want (from any manufacturer), the certifcate you install into the OS must always match it though. If you have a HP SLIC 2.1 on your gigabyte BIOS, then you must use a compatible HP certificate. Sometimes 2.0 certificates are compatible with SLIC 2.1 but sometimes we need a new a one, this is what the thread is about. People have a Gigabyte SLIC 2.1 but need the certificate to actually activate the OS (old certificate is not compatible). Edit: There are plenty of mods for GA-MA770-DS3 available, go to the search function and search for GA-MA770-DS3. Choose posts instead of threads and select the bios mod section.
a friend of mine built a computer and bought a mother board gigabit and went we were cking it out ran rw and to our suprise it had slic 2.1 it was hp slic we installed hp 2.1 cert and key for ult and bingo ativated ! the board was a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
@williamd Hey, i also have a GA-UD3P motherboard with f9 BIOS. But when i ran Everest it says SLIC 2.0 Can you please tell what BIOS version you installed? I'm about to install/upgrade to Win7... Thanks for any info/help!
Thank you Brainsuck, one question, the certificate in your modded bios is named "certificate". Is this the right ACER cert and could I rename it to "Acer" ?? Regards
