Thank you , it's got the D610 A51 BIOS by tqhoang The display is the hi res 1280x1024. I had installed this A51 bios to permit OEM activation, but this was before I found Daz's loader. and I subsequently found my own trick to get over the 48bit LBA problem. So it's a well tested bios and it causes me no problem, but for the sake of consistency I'd like to revert to the original bios. I'll keep pounding away at it. ...T
I'm answering to myself: It's not working neither without hdd, it won't boot CD:-((( @tonto11: Any idea how to boot this? When I removed CD, it began to boot from NIC and after that said something like: "No booting device. Please restart"
put hdd in another pc and install dos to it.. set sata to ide mode.or combination. add cmospwd to hdd .. try booting now and reset cmos with cmospwd /k
Simpler solution, this is an old fashioned dos program so boot your computer to whatever os you're using put the cd in the drive open it with windows explorer look for svctag.exe right click and run as administrator in due course a dos box will come up showing your service tag and asking if you want to change it I just did it on my D630 so I know it works follow the previously posted instructions from there ...T
I just did it in Win7 ult, WinXP complains about not being able to write to a temp file but it does run however Win8.1 says it requires NTVDM to run it but when I do it still doesn't work. ...T
I've tried also to run ee-value.exe /E which erases the Service tag number, but a message appeared: Fatal error, failed to read value from serial EAPROM at address 01
It isn't newer, because i used exactly that svctag version:-(( Ok, I'll rename hdr file to be as you said... But how to enter in recovery procedure? END button doesn't help, neither in combination with Power button... That's a key moment, to get into a recovery...
I'm totally confused... I don't know what more to do, seems like all I started it finished in deadend Do you have any more suggestions?
One further thought. svctag uses a separate listing of computers that it will support. this is in clear text What about editing that list to add your computer to it. might take some effort to determine the proper format of the info but it might work and get around the error This might not be as easy as I have said because I don't see either my D610 or D630 on the list, and I know they work. ...T
