    Hello everyone,

I’m encountering an issue while trying to install Windows 7 on my PC. I've attached a screenshot of the system details for reference. However, despite my efforts, the installation process keeps freezing at a black screen during the boot sequence (I have used Rufus to prepare the USB installation media).

I'm wondering if I might be overlooking something or if it's possible that my PC's BIOS does not fully support Windows 7 installation (hence why I'm posting in this section for more specialized help).

If anyone has successfully installed Windows 7 on a similar system or has any insights on how to bypass this issue, could you kindly share your steps or instructions? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

To install Windows 7, ensure your system is set to Legacy boot mode (also known as BIOS mode or CSM mode) in the BIOS settings, as UEFI mode is not supported.

Installing Windows 7 on a 10th generation CPU can be challenging due to the CPU architecture and the operating system's compatibility.

There are some specific resources that can help you with installing Windows 7 on a 10th generation CPU, I recommend checking out the following threads:

UEFI Seven: This thread provides a solution for easily booting Windows 7 on UEFI Class 3 devices, which may be relevant to your situation: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...boot-windows-7-on-uefi-class-3-devices.82137/

USB 3 XHCI Driver Stack for Windows 7: This thread offers a driver stack that can help with USB 3 compatibility issues in Windows 7, which may be necessary for your installation: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/usb-3-xhci-driver-stack-for-windows-7.81934/

Both of these resources may provide the necessary workarounds to get Windows 7 installed on your 10th generation CPU.

Very interesting! I learned a lot about this issue. I wasn’t aware that the Intel CPU int10h interrupt is obsolete and is no longer supported on newer UEFI firmwares and it is the cause of the problem on them.
I’ll give UEFI Seven a try and see how the boot process goes.
As for the USB 3 XHCI drivers, I’m already integrating the Simplix Pack, so hopefully that resolves any compatibility issues.

    Thank you for your help!

The Vostro 3888 W7 install media/image was installed working in my test.
