why it's scary? wph files often has a platform.bin at the end. this information is needed by phlash. a pure rom dump doesn't work. i have also a fsc laptop but my crisis recovery is 100 percent working and a lot faster. it take only 10-20 min.
>For example: PHLASH16.EXE isn't able to flash these and BIOS ROMs renamed to WPH don't work! >I will post a description in recovery thread when I've done. I think it's just missing the platform.bin. Nothing scary!? Also he is working hard. This tells me bios modding isn't easy and no way it should give away for free...!
Hello Recursion, Phiber2000 kindly offered to try & save my bacon yesterday, we spent an hour or so trying different things & yet no joy...The Laptop has stopped beeping, just have 3 flashing icons on the Crystal Display.... We tried to create a Crisis Recovery USB with the following files... MINIDOS.SYS PLATFORM.BIN BIOS.ROM BIOS.WPH Phlash16.exe Then tried it with an autoexec.bat file and a different version of Phlash.exe Still no joy....Not a flicker from the USB....We used Diskpart to Create the USB.... Have you any further thoughts on things that I could try? Thanks
You need to download a wincrisis for usb stick. the recovery thing works only with a wincrisis disk. then you need to add the platform.bin to the bios.rom and rename it to bios.wph. phlash needs platform.bin. my platform.bin is 6 kb and my rom is 2048 kb. together it is 2054 kb. then phlash knows about platform.bin. you can use copy with /b argument to append the platform.bin: copy /b bios.rom+platform.bin bios.wph.
Hello Recursion, Thanks, Will Give it ago....You mentioned in Your Earlier post about pressing the FN-ESC Keys whilst trying a BIOS recovery...Is this step still valid, or should it do the Recovery Regardless TIA
No Problem, I wanted to save the dog. ESC-FN key combination is needed for the recovery function to enter. It's only a short time you can press it. Good luck!
