Help: WinXP + OEM:SLP + VM = genuine

    That's right. I was using Express Settings and it used unattended install and asked for a key during the set up.

    Now I have tried Custom Install and selected I'll install the OS later on.

    Let me rephrase my question. How do I verify whether OEM activation worked or not? Since whether you do all those steps or don't do them, msoobe shows Windows is activated

    xp install source
    Used a vol key (source: google search results)

    Case1: VM created, installed from iso mentioned above and checked msoobe. Windows is already activated.

    Case2: VM created, did all the steps you mentioned and checked msoobe. Windows is already activated.

    That's where I'm getting confused

    I have another doubt now. If VL activation is possible in a VM installation then why OEM activation is preferred ?
