Type exit and press enter remove usb flash drive 4gb insert 16gb flashdrive boot and install choose custom install post back screen shot of drive section
The Windows 7 install disk will reformat the drive if we ever get the USB flash drive created properly. I was in the middle of trying to get him there.
Considering what all is happening, why not use a DVD in place of the USB Flash Drive? I understand this might require the purchase of an external DVD drive, but jeeze, all this to try and get the flash drive to work? External DVD drives are dirt cheap and they can be used for things other than OS installations. I've successfully use a flash drive to install Windows, but there comes a time when you have to consider options. And if this is what the OP is going to face every time his tries to do this with a flash drive I think it's time to move to Plan B.
you have got a point for sure, phasedoubt.. if this machine can be persuaded to boot from external cd that is.. personally i would be tempted to format that hdd under dos..
besides at this point I'm not even certain of the integrity of the drive at this point..If he gets the the USB bootable and chooses custom install it will tell all if the drive is seen or not
