I have an ASUS P5B-E board in my computer. The DMI information is unpopulated or default, depending on how you want to describe it. For example, if I run Everest and look at the DMI data, I see this under system:

    Manufacturer: System Manufacturer
    Product: System Product Name
    Version: System Version
    Serial Number: System Serial Number
SKU#: To Be Filled By O.E.M.
Family: To Be Filled By O.E.M.

and the same type of stuff under Chassis and a few other places. Obviously I would like to be able to populate this with strings of my choosing.

I found oemdmi.exe mentioned here and a few other places, it looks like the tool I'm looking for. I've tried booting from a Win98 floppy disk and running it from the command prompt but anything that would actually write to the DMI reports an "access denied" error.

Do I need a different tool, or is there something else I need to do to make the DMI writable? Of course, I have found nothing on the ASUS help site.
