Could some help change the information on this. The info on it at the mo is for a HP Pavilion A6512P Desktop PC which came with 500Gb hdd and i have now got a 160GB hdd inside and of course i dont understand it. Code: CSP.DAT v 4.0 [PART0001] Starting_Offset=32256 Partition_Size=52428800000 Partition_Type=07 Primary=yes Win_Type=NT Mounted_Volume=yes SystemID= VolumeName= FS_Type=NTFS Windows_Version=6 Fixed_Size=yes Used_Space=1073741824 Version= [PART0002] Starting_Offset=52428832256 Partition_Size=10485760000 Partition_Type=07 Primary=yes Win_Type=NT Mounted_Volume=yes SystemID= VolumeName= FS_Type=NTFS Windows_Version=-1 Fixed_Size=yes Used_Space=1073741824 [General] Disk_Size=250056737280 Date=2008/05/13 10:30:41 thanks
Have it create a C partition and a D Partition, but i have looked into it and i think it is done in bytes and sectors. it is partioning instructions from a HP recovery DVD. Just figured it out
have you tried EASEUS Partition master pro? it was free for a while. im not sure if it still is. if not, i have it and i can upload it somewhere for you to download later on.
Creating the partitions before hand wont work becuse i am rebuilding a recovery disc and the the restore wizard on the disc has to create the partitions, but i have figured it out now, cheers. Just have to get boot.wim to boot since it wont when i remove system check files
any chance you could upload partition master pro as the offer has now ended and i missed the deadline.thanks.
Edit: checksum data: File: EPMProSetup.exe CRC-32: 102540e2 MD4: 4d46dd8551cfbb6cf49e012b68aca167 MD5: 99776de16731f06b7b1937849529ce81 SHA-1: 223b5d81b9f2f9f2bca405b37dc6f3e0e52d1afa
is it a bootable dvd? if so you should still be able to get to the repair screen from booting the dvd then select the repair option and it will automatically restore boot files. if it can repair the problem it will if not it will tell you. also back up any important data you dont want to loose before doing this. once it repairs then use easybcd to setup dual boot, if you are dual booting.
The is no OS on the PC, I am trying to install using a hacked recovery dvd but when i remove the security checks from the boot.wim it fails to boot from dvd but it will boot from usb but then it would find al of the other files it need to restore
Would you mind sharing what you did to figure these numbers out?? I have the factory recovery on a USB drive that was originally for a Inspiron 1750 with a 500gb drive and now I have a different 1750 with a new blank 320gb drive in it. I was able to get past the part that said I need a bigger hard drive just by changing the Disk_Size= value to 320070479872 , but I'm sure the Starting_Offset= and Partition_Size= need to be changed too. But currently I am getting a 0x400110020000100A error message when it tries to create the partitions in the Dell DataSafe Recovery. Here is the ORIGINAL CPS.dat file for the 500gb. Please let me know what I need to change the values to for a 320gb Seagate Momentus Thin ST320LT007 Thanks!! Code: CSP.DAT v 4.0 [PART0001] Starting_Offset=32256 Partition_Size=312528384 Partition_Type=DE Primary=yes Win_Type=NT FS_Type=FAT32 Mounted_Volume=no Version=0.0.0.0 Windows_Version=-1 Create=always Restore=on_creation [PART0003] Starting_Offset=20580401152 Partition_Size=479526412288 Partition_Type=07 Primary=yes Win_Type=NT Mounted_Volume=yes SystemID= VolumeName=OS FS_Type=NTFS Version=6.1.7600.16385 Windows_Version=14 Create=always Restore=always used_space=15425592406 [General] Recovery_Partition_Size=20266876928 Recovery_Partition_Start=313524224 VolumeName=RECOVERY Disk_Size=500107862016 Date=20100103 13:57:43
Woohoo!! I got it to work! I determined the 320gb drive was 625142448 sectors and multiplied that by 512 bytes per sector which gives me 320072933376, so I put that in the Disk_Size= field. I had to change the [PART0003] Partition_Size= in the CPS.dat file to shrink the original C partition from 479526412288 to something well within the remaining space after the recovery partition was to be created so I just made it 270803602944 and it ended up creating the C partition at about 252.21gb with 26.72gb unallocated after it. It took a while to format in the recovery, I thought I was stuck. Then all I had to do is expand the partition in Disk Management and it was all good!
