I have a XPS 9550. Touchpad works out the box with clean install, no issues. Had no problems on any of the insider versions. Doesn't necessarily help you though

EDIT: Should mention this is a signature edition from Microsoft, so Dell may have different hardware in various configs

Haha, I'm jealous. Mind sharing what your device manager for HID devices and mice looks like? I'd like to compare with you.

I tried both of the diagnostics tests, and both were passed.

I did a clean install of windows, so we should be pretty similar software wise. Well, except for the touchpad :p.

    Probably not worth a pic:

    Just:
    HID-Compliant Mouse
    PS/2 Compatible Mouse

And it is detecting and running as a precision touchpad in Windows

Huh, that's what I expected. Can you take a screenshot of the driver info on I2C HID device under HID Devices?

Cool, thanks! If you expand human interface devices can you also take a screenshot of the driver info for "I2C HID Device"?

Weird, my version is lower than yours. I have 10.0.14393.0.

He is probably running an insider build.

The workaround seems to be installing the synaptics for now, still not perfect though.

What about backing up and trying the insider build to see if it has been patched out in the new build?

I'm not on an insider build, is it worth trying one?

Edit: Haha, whoops I thought you were talking about me, my mistake.

I am running 15031. I also shift between regular build and insider every now and then. I have never had touchpad issues with either.

I'm going to try a refresh and/or a clean install later today.
