The computer from my son, which uses a low power AMD CPU (FX 4100 Quad) with 1TB HDD and and EVGA 9800GT needs at booting 380W which goes down after all drivers etc. are loaded to app. 250W-270W and that CPU need less power than an i5! The PSU in his computer is 500W to which I changed after the older 400W was burned twice, both while booting the machine! Normally even that 400W were enough but the Power in Thailand isn't very stable, special not within the Monsun Season.
Just had a short look at specs of that card, most of them don´t even need additional power, due to 75 W from PEG are enough .
yep .. In the past even if you don't connect additional power it usually will warn you if it needs it and run limited
Yeah...the last connectors to plug, and i like to forget them. Quiet noisy with my GTX 570, which requires two 6-pins .
