I have the legit $29 Home Edition upgrade download of Win 7. I want to install it on a different drive so I can keep my XP drive as I have found that several special programs I have don't work in WIn 7 do to driver issues (so I don't think a VM would help.)

I understand that an XP-Win7 "upgrade" is actually a fresh install, is there any way to trick the upgrade into installing on a different drive?

I've heard that when I install my legit Win7 from XP it will deactivate my XP.

Thankyou, Glad I asked instead of blowing up my good ole XP. It still comes in handy sometimes.
