    I'm using the latest JD 0.9579 and Java jre 6.17 but from Sun ! (last version there)

    thanks for java.net link (new to me) i'll try the 6.18 version and reinstall the hotfix package again.

    hope it will work, I'll let you know ..later

    cheers, dry

    I hate to say it, but thank goodness you had the same problem as me. I thought I was going crazy. After I installed the updates JDownloader stopped working and so did Downthemall in Firefox. I went through all the steps you did as well. I'm in the midst of uninstalling the updates, and as you said, I can't uninstall kb977348. Hopefully this will solve my problem.

    Lot of work but i found the bad guy :cool:

    KB976538-x86.msu Windows NTFS - / 6.1.7600.20575

    Hotfix report from Micro support:

    symptoms - Consider the following scenario:

    * You have a Windows 7 or a Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer.
    * You connect a 1394a external hard disk drive to a 1394a PCI card on the computer.
    * You try to resume the computer from hibernation (the S4 system power state).

    ..anyway after uninstall KB976538-x86.msu .. Jdownloader is running again, and not others probs found so far.

    Cheers, dry

    Thanks so much for this info on the problem. I'll be sure to stay away from this update.
