    Hi all,

I have a question on how to convert IDE to SATA to be a SATA 1.
I have a PATA ( Parellel ATA ) Hard drive and want to set it as SATA 1. I bought a Adapter IDE to SATA to connect ATA as SATA 1. but when I install clean Windows.... PC can not detect the present of Hard drive in SATA 1.Otherwise, If I connect it as SATA 2... then PC can detect it.

Any ideas or suggestion that I can used adapter IDE to SATA and set it as SATA 1 to install Windows please ???

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Install Windows on SATA Drive

If you use an original windows xp installation CD, then it won't work. The installation cd doesn't include the needed SATA drivers. You have to ad them to the installation cd (you can do this with free nlite).

For Windows Vista and 7 there shouldn't be a problem.

    Hope this info was helpfull.

I used Windows 7 to install.... But the PC does not detect Hard drive if I connect it as SATA 1 ( Primary ). Maybe It need SATA drivers. Do you know where I can find SATA drivers and how to install it in order that PC detect Hard drive as SATA 1 ( Primary ) ???

    Thanks in advance

Why do you want it as sata? And if it works fine with sata2, why not sata2?

Why do you want to do this ?? - there will not be any performance boost and it seems like it is causing way more grief than it is worth.

As to why it can't be recognized as SATA-1 - who knows ???

As was said above - have you made sure BIOS settings are correct for boot drive ?

Maybe the SATA-1 port on your board is defective ???

Maybe Windows doesn't know how to find the appropriate MBR to place the boot code because the drive is not really a SATA drive ??

As I said - without a thorough diagnosis who knows - and this will cost you more than a new harddrive - and a new harddrive will improve performance -

So, again - Why do you want to do this ??
