How do I check the BIOS on a computer that came without a HDD?

I was given a Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976. The hard drive was already removed, so I got a replacement hard drive. Now, the computer turns on, but the screen stays dark, and the operating system (Windows 7) doesn't seem to load. I say it doesn't seem to load because the screen is dark, therefore I cannot be sure. I am wondering if the BIOS is still there without the old hard drive.

    Thanks

We need more info you say you got new hard drive they don't come with windows 7 installed on them also bios has nothing to do with hard drive. Bios is on a chip on the motherboard not hard drive.
