If its a laptop it be on the underside of your laptop on a sticker or desktop at the rear on a sticker /label.
You can also check on your oder notes on online @Dell and your service tag will be there.

    asset utility

    hello to all !

i just want to report something:
i bought a dell optiplex 755 n-series desktop. in my bios i had a hidden slic table. it was not possible to activate windows 7. just now i used the asset utility described on first page. it worked perfect. immediatly i saw slic 2.0. then i flashed with the modded bios and now i have slic 2.1.
thanks to all here they do a great job.

Any Luck getting SLIC working on a Dell PowerEdge T105
    I tried the following codes
    asset PASS:12/31
    asset PASS:12/34
    asset PASS:1234

asset PASS:1234 got me into Manufacture mode however it never asked for ALT+F and SLIC is still shielded (36 bytes). Ideas?

Trying to install Windows 2008 SBS

Is modifying the BIOS an option or is there another method?

    Thanks

    You need to try svctag.exe
    1.boot to dos
    2.run svctag
3.type y to confirm change service tag
4.type new service tag (just use your original one)
5.type again to confirm new service tag
    6.run asset PASS:12/31 or 12/34
    7.reboot to check

I just use this method to get the completed slic for Dell Inspiron 6400 (N-serial) 5 mins agao.

    Wish you good luck!

SvcTag says "This system is not supported by this utility"

    System Name: PowerEdge T105
    System ID: 0x0225
    BIOS Rev: 1.3

    :(

    tried
asset.com /s svctag (used original tag)
    asset.com PASS:1234

T105 uses PASS:1234 for Manufacture Mode

Would this method work with the Dell Vostro 420?

I got this computer with the XP downgrade, but now I want to install Vista. I installed Vista using another Dell CD I have which has worked on other computers, but it didn't work on this one.

The BIOS are different from the regular Dell ones, though. The Vostro desktops use a Dell-modified version of AMI BIOS. The version is 1.1.4.

This is just odd because it's not like I selected no operating system. I ordered it with Windows Vista Business and an XP downgrade, so it had XP installed and working.

Yeah, but they will not give you a free pass to activate vista ultimate. The slic would be just that. You need to activate the SLIC.

Does anyone know how to make a Dell Latitude E6400 laptop go into manufacturing mode? Asset.com tricks do not work.

    Hi All
Just a bit of info for those who are having problems using Dell R109071 Asset/service tag utility.

If you are getting no where when entering ASSET PASS:12/34 or PASS:12/31 or PASS:1234 ie when you reboot you dont get the Manufacture mode succesfull and the Alt f screen try this: remove all USB device (usb sticks and external hard drives) and restart ASSET, if you still get the same problem disconect your hard drive (power or sata/ide cable) and restart Asset again.

Remember to go into bios and load default and setup drives if you have tried Asset and its hung on Reboot ie no drive detected.

    Hope this helps:D
