Hi to all! How many people continue to use windows XP and prefer it on windows vista and wndows 7 ? and why? there is windows 7 that is another planet in comparison to Windows XP. Bye
I have old hardware that still works but there could be issues with some drivers not being available for Vista/7 even though the 32 bit driver model is supposed to be compatible with XP drivers. So if I move to Vista/7 I could end up with a non functioning computer. When the computer finally dies I will move to Windows 7.
I still use XP at VM. This is important for me as many softwares only runon 32bit OS, so I'm gonna to use it long time yet.
Seems like i need to use XP in VMWare for playing red alert 2 beacuse my base and all explodes after 20 seconds on 7 64Bit for some reason but it seems to work on 32Bit Win 7/XP... And i know others still using XP Im afraid, i however will only use 7
I have a system which i can boot up into any OS. XP,Vista and my main OS 7. I like using XP ! I wanted to build a system where i could boot into all the OS's from Windows 95 on but i have too much memory which wont let me install the old ones. I like to use my XP to run keygens etc to obtain the serials i need. This keeps my main OS free from the nasty's.
I have a few older pentium 4 3.2 ghz machines i still run xp on, My main machine runs windows 7. I use VMware for testing e.c.t saves you having to reboot into other OS you can copy files to and from the VM also take a snap shot of clean system and just restore back to original state only takes bout 30 seconds. No need for Multi OS boot e.c.t if you have enough memory I only have 3 GB and XP runs great in VMware you could also use it for your Windows 95.
I use XP to run some factory automotive software, my scanner & a Netgear NAS, none of which will run on Win 7 or Virtual XP. Can't get my printer to run on Virtual XP either!
Corporate use XP, because update to Win7 is NOT just the desktop Usually it involves server software & certainly desktop management software And doing these upgrades takes time sebus
XP was a very nice Windows OS. It was the OS that was very fast, had good support, could play games flawlessly, for Speed, I would go back to XP but, I love Aero.
Many businesses continue to use XP because they have expensive proprietary software (estimating, billing, quotations, scheduling, engineering, etc...) that was written for XP years ago and it still functions perfectly and economically on old single core Dell P4 computers with 256Mb ram. If you have a business that's running without software issues on 10 year old OS/hardware and apps that were paid off years ago- then why invest in expensive new computers and OS and possibly new applications (and employee training) just to gain nothing productivity wise ? You also have to consider business software support contracts... many vendors take some time (years in some cases) to offer support new OS's. How would you like to upgrade your company's computers to Win7 then find out that the software manufacturer you rely on to run your business doesn't support Win7 yet ? Home use is another matter... as long as you can still surf the web and send/receive email and you don't have any software that runs only on XP- then why not upgrade to Win7 as long as your hardware meets the minimum requirements. Win7 eyecandy certainly blows XP away in that respect. In my case- all the computers at work (30+) all run on XP except a few new laptops that have Vista and Win7. At home I have six (2-4 core CPU) computers running on Win7 and one older single core HTPC shuttle running on XP because it was a dog running Win7.
+1 here Windows XP Professional SP2 x64 My system has 6GB ram and I don't like the fancy stuff of Vista & 7. Dx10.x & Dx11.x are not that much of a problem. Peace.
I have Win7 running on slightly less, Samsung Q1, 900Mhz, 512MB. Actually runs a fair bit better/smoother than XP on it. (With a couple things disabled, namely indexing.) It's going to be swap heavy either way, but 7 just seems to run a bit smoother than XP did. Granted it doesn't run much, just using it for a browser, ebook reader, etc etc.. certainly wouldn't try running Crysis on it.
Still running XP in one PC for compatibility reasons. Before anyone butts in... yes, it's the only option. OTOH, my server is still running Win2K Pro. Never bothered to upgrade, because that works.
I'm still using XP coz I have a E6600 on a P5N-E SLI with a 8600GT and 3gb ram. - aka top specs for XP Such system is the minimum specs to run 7.. so why drop from the top of the table straight to the ground? I don't see the point.
Im using E6550, Asus P5K Pro, MSI 8600GT and 3GB ram with no problems Now im using xp on a friends laptop which i had lots of problems with installing xp on, but its done now finally..
Since I discovered SLIC modding, I removed XP from all of my PCs. Not that XP is terrible or anything. XP had a great run, but it's really starting to show it's age these days.
I do use XP home on an old 2005 Dell laptop, but that is not out of choice, but mainly because I have not got around to figuring out how to get that laptop to install windows 7. Tried to install, but got boot error. Gave up after 5 mins, and never tried again.
