No, that would create a mess. And don't forget there is a ton of development code in all these releases to log errors as they occur and whatever else they are doing under the covers. When all of that is taken out I am sure you will find an os you like much more.
Not even close - I still can not use Win 10 (any version) Official or LEAKED - with my U.S. Government Programs... tested several Business Clients (Programs) claim to be compatible, but No they are not. THIS PRIME TIME JUNK is not close to GA- I also have several GAMER Site Cleints (Not ready for GAMES either) most pure 100% Microsoft BS (trying to sell s**t by saying FREE and it is NO EVEN CLOSE... and FOLKS it really is BAD when you can not GIVE IT AWAY FOR FREE... oh how they cook the #'s
Sounds like the government and gamer sites have some work to do if they want to be ready by July 29th. At the very least they will have to tell their users not to hit yes when the popup comes asking if they are ready to upgrade.
don is right. Microsoft is not totally responsibility for software compatibility. they help with some. company have to make sure that their software works. also most problem with apps not working correctly is driver related. nvidia and amd have to get on the ball and fix hardware acceleration for windows apps.
Who was it, Creative whose crap never worked when a new OS was released? Anyway it was one of them and I think it was windows 8 when it didn't work properly for months after the release ans so the people who owned it either had to stay back on the previous OS or deal with crappy hardware. It didn't stop MS from going ahead with the release though. BTW, where is Creative these days?
Yes it was creative...and it was more like almost a year for creative to update. I remember having to find a work around which I did...same as I had to do for my EOL steelseries keyboard with the Steelseries engine 2 for that keyboard. ( I use 2 different keyboards) Also the latest current Logitech gaming sofware will not install but there is a workaround..as some previous versions will install and then you can upgrade to the latest with no issue...go figure. The steelseries and logitech issues are with win 10. Anyhow these are not MS issues but the end hardware manufacturer issues.
Funny, most of my apps (including legacy WinXP firmware serial flasher tools, proprietary stuff with ancient USB drivers) work fine. Also, games, starting from older games (Populous) up to today's games (not the latest, as my laptop is not up to date, but e.g. Dishonored, Fallout New Vegas runs fine, and while I'm having some driver issues with ARK Survival Evolved, it runs pretty well on lowest settings). No major issue. I'm on build 10147 though.
Hopefully you lose some of this credibility you seem to have around here the more people see that post. It shows that you have no idea what you're talking about. Trying to use U.S. Government software on a PREVIEW RELEASE of an operating system? I really do hope you don't work with any private information because a lot of pipes in your home probably have gaping leaks. It's also not 100% free for everyone like you seem to think. I'll just stop here. Your post is just.../facepalm
Can only speak as a gamer...through different versions of Win 10 TP there have been issues with the game platform ie steam or even a specific game launcher working with a a BETA UNRELEASED OS. Is this MS issue or the gaming client issue? It is gaming client issue developer issue. MS warned that some things may not work with the beta OS...did you even heed this? Guess not, from what I see you expected everything to work perfectly. If a program/driver does not work...you need to go to the developer of that program/driver not MS as that is not their responsibility.
People in this thread seem to be confused. RTM = release to manufacturing, not general availability. It will be finished and sent to OEMs by the 29th, not necessarily before. It will take a while before it actually hits the self or is preinstalled on new computers. Probably not until around October or November. By the time it's out on the shelf there will already be a large GA update available on day 1 that fixes all the bugs they found between RTM and GA. The only thing that is different than prior releases is Microsoft seems to be offering upgrades to RTM on the same day OEMs will get it. But if you want to have a physical copy you will have to wait.
I believe it is you that is confused. The GA date is July 29th - that is, you will be able to walk into a store and buy a PC loaded with Windows 10 on July 29th.
There no such thing as perfect or finished so i have no idea where the complaining coming from. Linux has it fair share of bugs and problems and apple the leader in issues these days. They get hacked more often then anyone else (icloud anyone) and then blame the user rather then take any responsibly. (of course after phone gate this is hardly a surprise). As windows 10 is now its fast and stable without major issues and of course there smaller bugs but that happens in ever single os ever put out. If it bugs someone that much then they certainly dont have to test it as this is a unfinshed beta and expecting bug free means you need to pass it around already
only things i cannot work out with 10147 is why i cant stream games from console to pc as that feature is either moved or not added and bsod everytime i stream a movie from pc to console using windows media player..are there any other streamers out there working that can do this? ive tried psm but had java problems so stopped using it.....any help is appreciated as always, and wont open another thread as mods are trying to keep forums tidy
Quite possible. There is no need to ship preloaded Win10 before the 29th July. Each PC on the shelf just needs to have a sticker Free Upgrade to Win10. The GWX update will eventually be installed and notify the end user. Even the manufacturer's can feed back to GWX and the end user will be notified of compatibility problems and required updates. Things have changed don't rely on previous releases and the timing. I also have an idea about the so called Win10 free upgrade key but in case MS has not thought of it let's see what they do come GA.
I disagree..the pc makers are going to want to have something waiting when people come in on the 29th after all the sure to happen hype has been blasting at them for a week..to have a sticker that says you may get it in a week or a month or several months (Microsoft's words, not mine) just isn't going to get it. I can't ever remember a new MS OS going GA without PCs already in place.
As I said "Quite possible." Besides we are already inside the typical 3 month window between RTM and GA so relying on the past seems to be a bit of a problem.
