Thanks for the heads up urie! He was quite adamant when I contacted him about his downloads that a KMS crack would not be possible with the new OS. He kept saying that it is a cloud OS and that Microsoft has done something to prevent cracking and he went on that he is a Microsoft Partner etc. Anyway it all didn't feel right
It is time consuming and apain in the butt to reinstall a server OS, if your actually using it for a server role such as AD/DC/DNS/DHCP...., you cant just take an AD/DC server down, reinstall and come backup...no user accounts would word
I know what you saying, been there and done that. We do not know when a work around will be release. There is some-sort of patch for Win8, but nothing yet for the server, it must be way more difficult to get this one right. Many of us are all waiting....
Although what your saying is true, if you use a 'rearm' you'll have to go through the process once a year. Most companies I've worked for did that anyway.
Setup two or more DC servers and replicate between them. Then you can tolerate downtime on one of them while it is getting reinstalled. Good practice whatever your situation.
This is a good idea, just make sure you don't see the DCs the same day otherwise you may experience issues when they closing date come in, try doing it a few days apart, yet I am still hoping for an easier solution like a loader or patch.
Come on, if you run 2 DC then you you run in a production (of any sort) and you should have a licence that covers that!
Not always true, I have four boxes at home that I do most of my testing. I test things fully before playing with it at work, sometimes this testing process can take many weeks and even months. I am not allowed to use the key from work at home, its a PITA but for many of us that do lots of testing the alternative is to wait for a fix. We are all waiting......
Come on, if you do testing for work, then employer should provide you with testing (ground one would also assume paid overtime...) I am sure that if you really "needed" you could easily "tap into" to you LAN based KMS server sebus
I've just created a vm using en_windows_server_2012_vl_x64_dvd_917758.iso and I haven't activated. I set my date forward one year and apart from the the message in action centre to activate, everything seems to work. I'm probably just not used to being un-activated as I've used windows server 2008 r2 with the zwt kms crack from my first install. What am I missing?
Hey cucu007 yeah I know we are waiting for a kms solution, but my question is about using server 2012 without any activation, e.g. what if anything will happen un-activated?
KMS server is up for a limited time! Keys: h ttp://pastebin.com/73sF7uDt Run "cmd" with ELEVATED permissions slmgr /ipk [key] slmgr /skms theliel2.dnsd.info:62000 slmgr /ato Any questions, ask in this thread: h ttp://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/35379-What-are-the-options-to-activate-Windows-8-RTM-if-any
SVR 2011 and I believe SVR 2008 R2 would start displaying a nag screen after the 180 days were up. Then shortly afterwards they'd reboot every few hours. Activating or Rearming had them running normally again.
