    Tried to run setup.exe and do an upgrade on 8.0 pro with legit key. Used generic key to proceed install process, system reboots then gets stuck for awhile then eventually reverts to 8.0

    Can you install with your retail upgrade key (clean install with existing OS on system) and activate?

    Yeah...that´s the error for CODYs emulator, as 8.1 uses new V6 protocol :D.

    dnt need data.dat enter wmc key in this post after adding features go to pc settings enter ur free / genuine wmc key :) activated

    Because you were already activated with pro key and had genuine upgrade wmc key right ?

    dude i dt have pro key i saw ths post added default wmc key then i applied my free wmc key after adding features

    dude i dt have pro key i saw ths post added default wmc key then i applied my genuine wmc key after adding features now gnna try with free key this thread very helpful to me thx

    phone activation required for win 8 to 8.1 upgrade user not 8.1 pre rtm to 8.1 user / free key users so better try ths method 8.1 pro instal again without frmatting apply default wmc key then after adding features replace ur wmc key thats all done i have 2 test this gonna try now ​

    1.install windows 8.1 pro clean install/ upgrade from pre rtm not from 8 then add default wmc key see the post
    2.after adding features done after restarted pc go to pc settings < actvate windows < enter key < add your own genuine wmc key or free wmc key thats all !

    No need to replace data.dat / phone activation

    i didnt tried with wmc free key yet i need some tim will update you

    I will install windows 8 rtm pro ..ok...but what is the wmc key? and where can I found default wmc key...?
