Here is Windows Live Messenger 2009 running on my Windows 8. Image taken 2 days ago. So yes it works. And you don't have to use Windows Live Messenger 2011 or Windows Live Essentials 2011.Andrea Borman.
Andrea, there is a Windows Live Writer in WLE 2011, cause i use it for my blogsites. Yeah, i am annoyed when MS is trying to force people onto the latest stuff, when there is no need to. As the old saying: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
Thank you for your reply. Sorry I did not know they still had Windows Live writer in WLE 2011. I tried Windows Live Writer 2009,from WLE 2009. But I did not get on with it. It was difficult to use. Andrea Borman.
2011 version also has the ribbon interface as well, personally, i don't mind, but not everyone is going to like it.
Windows Live Photo Gallery 2009 and Windows Live Mail 2009 does not have the Ribbon. But Windows Live Movie Maker 2009 does and so does Windows Live Writer 2009 have it. So you are right that some of WLE 2009 products have the Ribbon. But on WLE 2011 Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Photo Gallery 2011 has the Ribbon. And the problem with WLE 2011 and WL Messenger 2011. Is that it is too different from WL Messenger 2009 and the previous versions. And too different from WLE 2009. That's why most people don't want WLE 2011. Andrea Borman.
-1 for 'Do you still run MSN Messenger 7.5 or 8.5 on Windows 7.' I selected it accidentally. I don't see the issue. Admittedly I use a-patch on mine. Updating is a matter of security (fixing security holes) and compatibility reasons between the functions of each version. It's definitely not a matter of 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. That would have to be the most overused saying in the world and it is never used correctly. An example of an incorrect use would be like saying no point servicing the car as there is nothing wrong with it (if you don't service it, you will sooner or later have an issue with it!). Fact is, WLE 2009 is actually 'broke' as it does have security holes, and does have compatibility issues with newer WLE 2011/WLE 2011 changed features. Some people hate change, like those still insisting on using the progman (win 3.11) interface on Windows 95 (it was provided). Sometimes change isn't necessarily a good thing, like Windows 7 --> Windows 8 UI, with the Windows 8 UI being absolute crap.
+1 those were my thoughts. One have to look at MS end and find out securities patched by their update, it is not always a matter of looks and adding one feature here or there. Sometimes , updates are just a must.
Oh yes, there should have been a yes or a no after that question. Or an option to tick which one,8.5 or 7.5. But I did not set the poll up correctly. It is the first time I have done a poll. Andrea Borman.
