as 5856898 posted in another thread on this forum (unfortunately i dont have the post count to provide a link) you can actually get the old f8 ->safe mode to work in win8, what you have to do is the following:

Run Command prompt as Admin and type (copy/paste the following line in command prompt):

    bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

ensure operation completed successfully. restart system and you'll find F8 works.

Still got the F8 safe boot and works properly. I do not have anything to add to the F8 safe boot. I have the original F8 safe boot.

I have always been so. I do not have to add anything . I put my computer to work. BIOS messages expire and immediately press F8. It be a blue background in the boot menu options. Press F4 and go directly to Safe Mode. Certainly, I would add the original video!

Do a clean installation and try again.
I think if M $ wrote in order to remove the F8 key as it is.
I tried a clean install on it, did not work. Installed on the EasyBcd. I have added a Win XP boot menu. I took the tick off, set the automatic. Then began to work on the F8 key again. Uninstall EasyBcd and remove Win XP boot menu. I tried boot safe mode and F8 key works.
Change Bcdedit , add OS systems, just modify Bcdedit /, launches the F8 key again?

I will try again clean install and let know.

So, I did a clean installation. F8 key does not working. Installed on the Easybcd. I added the boot menu win xp. I didn't restart computer. I try self bcedit add XP. Easybcd removed, I did restart the computer. F8 did not worked. Windows 8 also did not worked. Improves Windows 8 bootrec / rebuildbcd.
Now did restart computer several times and F8 began to work on. I press F8 at the right time and it works. After boot CD options (press any key boot CD, if cd in reader) I press F8 once. Can try before you press the F8 key several times. Safe Mode option is provided. Selection of the F1-F10. F4 and choose to boot to safe mode.

Anyway, I got to work F8 key.
Letter went on for a long.
    I hope you understand:)

    @MyDigito

Your post and boot menu is to slow. Do you have ssd hard disk or not? What hardware do you have?
    Did you see this? http://channel9.msdn.com/posts/Fast-Boot

On that hardware you dont have time to press F8 (in same cases only 200ms). Everyting is explained on MSDN Blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/05/22/designing-for-pcs-that-boot-faster-than-ever-before.aspx

That option 'Press any key to boot from CD' is option that you manage in BIOS (boot order). First boot device must be hdd if you want 'faster boot'. I dont know on what 'BIOS text' you mean? You mean on motherboard logo?

I have dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8, and I dont have possibility to start Safe mode with F8 button after i pick to start W8 - i thing because is my boot start is very fast. I try in evelated cmd command bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy first command (sacsesful done) but nothing change. Of course, this is only discussion, i dont have any problem with Safe mode and i know on several ways to go there.

    HINT: You can simply run
    Code:
    reagentc.exe /boottore
from elevated command prompt and you're in recovery menu after reboot from where you recover.
