    I have a Toshiba I upgraded from 7 to 8...

I need to boot from a USB drive but cannot figure out how...

It boots up too fast, I don't even know how to get to the damn bios.

    Any help would be great.

I didn't get the advanced options.

Instead of I got Continue, Troubleshoot, Turn off

    I went to troubleshoot...''

    It gave me "advanced options"

but then i dont see uefi firmware settings (im pretty sure this is legacy bios since I upgraded from windows 7"

all i got is System restore, recovery, automatic repair, command prompt, startup options.

I go to startup options and get options to boot into safe mode and crap but nothing to boot from usb or get into bios

Completely power off the laptop , remove battery wait for a few minutes , reinsert battery, press F2 and press POWER ON button,if you are able to get into bios, turn off quick/fast boot option. save and exit.

now what do you have in the usb that you are trying to boot?

    • For CD-ROM BIOS updates in Windows 8 models: 1 Shut down the system while pressing the SHIFT key to completely power off. 2 Power on while pressing F2 to enter the BIOS Setup Menu. 3 Go to the Security tab and set the Secure Boot setting to Disabled. 4 Go to the Advanced tab, enter System Configuration and set the Boot Mode to CSM Boot. 5 Press F10 to save and exit. 6 Boot from the BIOS CD-ROM and type FLASH at the C: prompt. 7 After the BIOS update has completed, restore the Boot Mode setting to UEFI Boot and the Secure Boot setting to Enabled.
    • For CD-ROM BIOS updates in Windows 7 models: Type FLASH then press enter at the C: prompt."

found this on a website telling users how to update bios.

    cannot insert links hxxp://laptopdriverhelp(dot)com/?brand=toshiba&serie=Satellite&model=S855-S5252&os=BIOS

You can set to boot from USB within Windows 8 by open "Run" and type this...
    RunDll32.exe pwlauncher.dll,ShowPortableWorkspaceLauncherConfigurationUX

This will show a dialog...just select "Yes" and reboot to USB. ☺
