how to get open/start menu back windows 7.

    hi all
    can anyone help me i have gone and made .torrent files open automatically.
    how do i get the menu option back to save or open .torrent files in windows 7/ie8.
    thanks.

    I think it's a browser setting. If ie8 then tools/internet options/advanced/reset internet explorer settings. I'll comment again if I find better answer

    i have reset ie8 still no joy it still auto runs the.torrent i have even re-installed utorrent but that did nothing.it only does it on one site because i checked the box to open the .torrenst from that site all the time but i need save option back for that site

    Ok I know what your saying and I've fixed it before being a uploader myself but I forgot right now dude. I do, however, remember it has something to do with the default for which client to open torrent with. Again I'll keep trying to remember. Check your pm dude

    Goto Control Panel -> Default Programs -> Set Associations
    Select .torrent and change Program.

    that will only change what opens the file it does not bring the open/save menu back,i want utorrent to open the download but i want the choice to save it as well.its doin my head in greeeeeer there must be an easy solution somewhere

    security settings are default.in xp you could revert back and bring back open/save option for downloads but it seems windows 7 you cannot unless someone knows a reg tweek perhaps?

    Did you try in IE?

    TOOLS>SECURITY
    Click CUSTOM LEVEL then tick the box for AUTOMATIC PROMPTING FOR FILE DOWNLOADS

    tried it it did not work BUT BUT i reset all security to default levels and YES back as it was with the option to save or open. a big thanks for that.all night i have been on it reseting everything i can go bed now thanks again.

    run utorrent then go it to settings and a you can set Association from there then utorrent will open all torrent files.

    what has BitComet got to do with it you still need to associate from within whatever client you use.
