Of course it has an advertisement in it. Any person or company currently developing ways to re-implement features removed from Windows 8 are trying to ride the sea of cash driven by demand. If they don't charge up-front for it, they'll use ads and so on.
Which is why paying for start8 is more than worth it, but some people still have that "i want everything for nothing" mentality.
Start menu discussion is becoming like a broken record. There are so many alternatives to it, everyone should try and find what works best. I am perfectly fine with Metro customization, WinX shortcut and such. It takes two clicks to get somewhere with Start, and it takes the same using Win X shortcut that can be customized and Metro as well.....time to move on dudes
Classic start menu is not that bad, Only the icon on start menu gives it a forged look but better than nothing
If you want classic start menu use Classic Shell. StartIsBack has Vista/7 style menu, not classic menu. Plus it's free and an excellent program.
I often miss the classic menu when I am in Windows 8 desktop mode. Is there any chance that Microsoft adds the classic menu back to Windows in a future update? Or is the menu gone forever?
You have probably right... Fortunately there are software that can be used to add a Start menu to Windows 8...
Yep,the reg hacks aren't working because (most of) the underlying functionality is gone. Your only choice is a 3rd party app like StartIsBack,Start8 (both have a trial period before you cough up 3 to 5$) or ClassicShell/ViStart/Etc (free)
Thanks bk109. Anyone know if any testing has been done on these 3rd party start button apps for CPU and Ram load?
