I only get 4.9 no matter what sort of driver I tried. I tried the official nVIDIA ones and the DOX's modified forceware but still no improvement. I only get 4.9 in the graphics department and that's what's bottlenecking my system, all other components get a 6 score. :S Any tips, I haven't played with the settings, is there anything that could help boost my score? I have an nVIDIA GeForce 9600 M GT FTW 512 MB dedicated memory and 1712 shared memory
Get a better graphics card I get 7. something here with my 4870X2 with official drivers. Make sure everything is configured properly, but it's a M, mobile card, so they're not amazing, not sure what you expected.
I had an nVIDIA GeForce 7400 GO on my previous Sony SZ laptop which was utter crap, I expected this 9600 GT to be a good upgrade :S
Well if you really want to increase the performance of your graphics card you have two option. 1. Driver overclocking 2. Low-Level overclocking ( graphics card bios )
It's an M card, which have their clocks massiveley reduced to prevent overheating (designed for laptops). You don't get good graphics on a laptop, period.
Yup as Hazar said the biggest problem of a M card is the heat production. I think it's safe to overclock the core-speed with 25Hz but you only gain 1% or 2% in performance ( max ). Btw... if you overclock your card ( especially low-level ) you loose warranty.
I get 7.4 with a Gigabyte 4850 1GB OC model, a 4870x2 should be pretty close to if not the maximum 7.9. In terms of the laptop scenerio, laptops aren't designed for performance. They're designed for ease of carry around and power efficiency. The graphics won't be a bottleneck at all unless you find games have a low framerate. It won't make programmes load any faster, video* or audio to encode any quicker, or anything else related purely to graphics performance. It would only slow down the computer if it were so chronically slow the computer had to wait for things to be drawn on the screen. If you feel that is the case, the only thing you can do is disable aero. Its actually recommended to some degree for laptops since you'll get longer battery life. *Video encoding using the latest graphics cards is inefficient, and don't provide the quality yet that can come from a good software encoder.
hmmm i have a 9200m and it gets 4.2 desktop and 5.4 gaming im on latest 195 drivers try laptopvideo2go also make sure you laptops plugged into man on high performance settings during the test
Strangely enough I get 7.4 for everything except the HDD, which is 5.9. Apparently thats not uncommon, and it doesn't really mean anything. There is a reason behind it but can't remember what I read on the net. In reality its probably 6.x. I don't think any single mechanical drive would get 7.9...?
Usually laptops HDs has 5200 RPM that could be a bottleneck compared to Desktop's HDs with 7200 RPM. I might be wrong but this may cause low WEI in some cases.
Q9400 @ 3.2ghz, Asus p5q pro mb, 4gb OCZ ddr2-1066 @ 1202mhz (something like that), Gigabyte 4850 1gb OC model (the one with the Zalman fan). Its around 1.5 yrs old I think, funnily enough the prices went up slightly or stagnated after I bought the parts for everything except the graphics card and keyboard/mouse combo that I got a little later (they're now very cheap). I got the best parts in terms of value for money that I felt at the time, I guess it paid off . Prices vary so much between stores, some stores have really good prices at times. My Logitech Cordless Wave Pro keyboard/mouse combo was Aus$110 for example.
