This issue just disappeared for me on VBox 6.0 with the latest patches. Maybe they added new certs [?]
fix point #27 - a new version has been released -https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/bypass-esu-longhorn.89161/
Today, I did a fresh install of Windows Vista Business SP2 64-bit in my 3rd generation 17.3" laptop which I use for testing purposes. It was then brought up-to-date to May 2025 with Windows Server 2008 64-bit updates and with the use of the listed scripts and tools. Everything went fine and no serious problems were encountered. The guide in post #1 of this thread has been edited and updated to show the entire 31-step process. Be aware this was a normal install and not a VM install. If you do a VM install, you may run into problems that do not occur in a normal install.
I tested 2025 pre-updated Vista Ultimate SP2 ISOs made by me, both x64 and x86 versions, on VMs. While x64 testing went fine, during x86 testing I encountered a 8007000e error on WU scan after patching the WUC to Server 2008. I was able to scan and update from the WSUS running on the host. Is it a VM issue or is WU on 32bit Vista/2k8 just doomed?
I don't use WSUS or VM, so I can't comment on them. Only 64-bit Vista/WS2008 can still be updated every month. I don't remember when it stopped for 32-bit.
32bit updates didn't stop for Vista, they already did for 7 and 8.1 respectively in 2024/10 and 2023/07. The issue is Windows Update gives an 8007000e error when checking for updates on the 32bit version, but not the 64bit one, where I can update normally.
There is a new IE9 cumulative security update for June 2025, so the guide has been updated to reflect changes to step #18.
