Hello friends, I am new to this and I am trying to follow your instructions to create an updated ISO with components removed. My native language is Spanish, I write this using google translate, so I apologize in advance for my bad writing. I have already downloaded an ISO that includes the Spanish language. I have also downloaded: WHD (I am downloading all available updates) W8UI MSMG toolkit But I am confused on how to proceed, because I would like to activate Net Framework 3.5 and version 4.8, in addition to eliminating many of the packages mentioned by the partner @ ceo54 Could you guide me how to proceed?
https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/msmg-toolkit.50572/ Where did you get the ISO from ? do you want dual language or just a single Spanish language ?
Hi friend I am now preparing a Windows 8.1 image with tweaks as I am not seeing much advantage in using Windows 10 even LTSC. I will test and see which one I like most these days. I will not remove any components at this time as it is possible to get the same performance only with tweaks so I will gradually remove some components mainly those that take up more disk space like Windows Defender but I will not remove much because the difference is almost nil and the probability of problems is too big. NTLite removes too many things and causes problems. Store for example it removes the store service and so the immersive control panel does not work. With Dism (MSMG Toolkit) this does not happen. It seems that Dism knows what needs to be maintained. Although with NTLite it is possible to further reduce the size of install.wim. I do not remember if on Windows 8.1 the size difference is too large I will have to test again.
Like I said I have no problems here. Even without removing components you can't do sysprep? The only updates that have been added to WHD that I haven't tested are those from .NET 4.8 and the latest Monthly Rollup (KB4525252) so they can be to blame less likely for .NET 4.8. I will try to test this but it may take a while. If I have any news I post here
I'm integrating both of these KB4525252 and .NET 4.8 and there might be the issue lies. I'm not inclined to test Sysprep without removing the packages because even if the Sysprep succeeds, that will defy the entire purpose. @MSMG is working on a fix so I'll wait for the updated version of the toolkit and start fresh from there.
I asked about sysprep without removing packages because of one of your answers: Spoiler So most likely the problem is removing packages combined with updates. I'm curious how MSMG will fix this since Dism is doing all the work and it seems like the problem is removing packages with the latest updates.
