I'm using it on 2 private laptops one of which is an ancient PackardBell that's being used as a HTPC. The only reason why Enterprise LTSB gets so much flak is because MS can't make money from it. That's it. Always follow the money.
It's not windows 10 as it was meant to be, it never should be published to the public, it's made for hardware/task specific purpose. As i said before, the thread title is misleading, if you follow instructions it doesn't result in a LTSB edition but in a chopped windows 10 lacking the core purpose of LTSB.
If I do this, will future updates (big updates like Creators Update etc) install all the metro apps back?
I hated the metro apps and the junk which came with the normal win10. LTSB is the best edition no doubt. Gonna try this on the fall creators update iso and test it out in a virtual machine. Thanks for sharing OP
Hi guys, as many of you I love the LTSB release since the install footprint can be reduced by a lot and I love minimal things in general. Btw major updates has been released and no LTSB will come out until 2019... I was thinking to generate an ISO of windows Pro (or Education, or Pro Workastation, still have to decide) and remove features from it... I've only one question... Do Windows Apps get restored every time an major update comes along? This was a major downside during my first days of Windows 10 usage (non LTSB), the same question can be made for some disabled/remove services... tl;dr: is there an official way (or at least more clean/robust) to remove Apps and Services from the windows 10 installation (or directly from ISO) that will be not ignored by later updates? (Example I want to remove app X only once and that app should never been reinstalled).
I use MSMG toolkit for that and no the apps are not coming back ps for every Major update you have to repeat the process for making an stripped iso
For me it does because I leave defender alone in my case but soon there will be version 7.8 with fixes so maybe wait a while
yep same here dude still I leave also telemetry alone for avoid issues as result now I'm running W10 Enterprise 1709 and works like a charm although I see several changes in Gpedit.msc but is possible change a lot of things IMO
