    that`s very clear,very helpfull.
    anyway,reinstalling windows is a nightmare,installing 100+ programs and
configure everything will take me a week.

    thanks

    Hi

    I have a Abit il8 motherboard which has a Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG.
I have modified the bios with the Awardtool and it appeared to go OK, am I safe to flash the bios, is it clased as a Phoenix or a Award bios.

    Thanks

You are safe to flash it....was the method 0+2? You have an AWARD BIOS that is made by Phoenix. Phoenix makes all bios.

    ASUS m4a478 plus board- ami

I read through this post. Everything seems straight forward to follow; but my only question is, will this give my bios the ACC settings options,or with this board it is not possible? i am just wanted to have those options to see if it will unlock my other 2 cores.. thank you.

This modification will only make it possible for you to activate windows 7 or windows vista as OEM.

We do not re-write a bios to cater to special needs. What you see and read is all that you get.

    Hi

First off thanks for creating this excellent tool and this great info :)

I just got a quick question,

I ran the award tool for use with my asus striker extreme bios and it ran perfect, no errors or nothing.

I was just reading the method descriptions and when i tried ages ago using some other tool to mod my bios i remember in winhex my bios had a slic entry that i'm pretty sure was not active or something but i remember the word slic. The award tool recommend pubkey method, is this ok for my situation? or maybe i should be using ssv3?

    Thanks in advance :) :)

The pubkey method is the correct one....Asus is one of the few who use Pubkey....so, do not change the settings but trust the tool.

I had my old ABiT AW8D with the v11 BIOS, and since there's no need for me to upgrade my BIOS to v13 I modified the v11 one (no need to reset CMOS) with DELL QA09 SLIC 2.1. And it worked flawlessly. Vista activated at once, Windows 7 is next. I checked with ACPIScope and the SLIC is beautifully present.

If anyone would need the BIOS, even the board ain't new, just send me a PM :)

I must say, it took the better part of a week to muster up the courage to do the flash. But it was so easy.

    OP, great post. Thank you!

    Magic roundabout...dededede-D dededede-D....

    :) Hello,
thought I'd give using the award tool a go(old asus board with award bios),
but the file type is "awd" and the tool says no award bios found.
:) Now I read over 20 pages of this thread and noticed similar comments.
Which were replied to linking to another thread, which again after reading page after page sheds no real light on the subject, of why that message is displayed.
Ok I've been awake over 16 hours and a may just be missing something obvious.
I get the various steps needed and would much prefer to do it this way than use a loader,
but I'm going round and round in circles in the threads.
Is the tool picking it up wrong....is there a step I'm missing....
OR.....and this is just a guess....it not actually an award bios but just a modded phoenix bios with an award logo, thus why the links piont to the modding thread.

;) Thanks to anyone with a torch.

Give Me the BIOS LInk....(.awd) is my speciality....

It is award, but it requires some manual manipulation for slic introduction. I think we will work on this with andy and the next tools..
