EVGA Classified bios mod kills Intel RAID Ok so I tried the Award tool and modded the S21S EVGA Classified bios with a Dell SLIC 2.1. I followed the directions using ISA method and bios modded ok. I flashed it and rebooted. Reset defaults, configured what I had to and now although the SLIC is showing as proper in RW everything, my onboard Intel raid controller no longer works. I get this error message: "Have option ROM can not be invoke (vendor ID: 8086H Deivce ID: 2822H)". I also tried the premodded bios on this site for the Classified and it does the same exact thing. Works great if you don't want the onboard RAID working (which I need to work). I think the mod is moving around the option rom for the RAID controller. Everything else seems fine. Is there another method for doing the EVGA Classified bios? I tried every setting in the bios and disabled lans, usb, 1394 etc to no avail.
Hey guys thanks for all the work you're doin, but I gotta little issue with my bios. Have an asus k8v deluxe with bios version 1011. Everytime I try to flash the bios in the Ami tool I get an error that says " main bios checksum not valid" I tried using different bios regions and got same error and tried using different slics. Is my bios just too old to do this. Have already modded it once for vista and it worked like a charm. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone
from what ive been told the classified already has a SLIC stock, and that messes things up. my raid also stoped working with tommy isa and some other mod i tryed. zort made me a custom bios that renamed the stock slic and it bricked the board. lucky i was ready for that to happen and had a extra bios chip sitting here. going to hotflash the orignal chip back and hope we can find a working mod >.>
Hi all, Im new as you can see I signed up to say a BIG thankyou to Busykid508 for the fantastic tutorial and AndyP for the great set of tools. With both your help I managed to succesfully mod my Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H ( Ver F8 ) bios and activated my W7. Thanks alot guys and after all that reading Ive turned into a bit of an expert in bios modding myself
killed my bios Hi, I am new to the forum. I am not an amatuer and have done a lot of reading here. Here are my details: ASUS P5W DH m/b Bios version 2901 used andyP tool v1.28 with ssv3 and mod'd my 2901 with slic 2.1 and an HP slip. So, about I week ago I flashed my bios and everything seemed to work fine. I activated Windows 7 - no issues. And then... yesterday my comp died. BSOD. It will not POST, no usb, no video, no option to get into any kind of recovery. I called ASUS and $55 later I have a new BIOS chip on the way. So, I have a two part question as a result of my little experience: 1. Is it normal for a bios to go bad 1 week after the flash? I would have thought the impact would have been immediate? How would it corrupt over time? 2. My Win7 is already activated. So, if I pop this new untouched bios chip in, will my Win7 still be activated? Is it a case of once activated, always activated or will I need to go through this all over again. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
@monoman, have you tryed to reset the CMOS ? Couse bios corupting after a week is IMHO almost imposible. FYI. Sometimes my mobo knows to screw up its CMOS and all I need to do is remove the power cord and the battery for a minute and after which all is well.
Are you sure it is the Bios?? Sounds wrong, as Petar says. You will need a slic in the bios to stay activated. No SLIC, No Activated..
Yes, I tried that. I took out the battery as well as moving my jumper to clear the CMOS. No dice. I too thought it almost impossible for the bios to become corrupt after a week. Very bizare.
Well, I litterally stripped the board down and rebuilt everything just to rule out it being RAM or something like that. The new bios chip arrives tomorrow so I will know for sure then. My plan is to install it, do a hot flash of the bad one, and then use this new one as a "disaster recovery" in case this ever happens again. Theory - is there constant polling of Win7 to the bios to check slic? If so, is that an opportunity for the bios to become corrupt?
NO. Not possible. The bios info is put to memory on init. that is where the OS looks. Bios operates pre-OS..
Thinking of trying my own mod now. I am activated, but Im having many lockups, not shutting down and not booting issues. Had a fellow here mod my bios for me and he used a SLIC 2.1 HP. I have a DFI LP DK 790fx mr2s mobo. Should I try a different brand SLIC maybe?
It is not the slic. They are all the same.. You need to maybe try another mod method or bios version. Have you tested this bios before mod?
Different ram? This machine is running sweet on XP. This 7 Im testing on a separate spare drive all to itself till I see if its stable.
Yes, in fact I am running on this modded bios right now for 3 days on XP. Runs great. Yea, I may try a earlier bios version just to see.
