    Nope. SLP is safe.

You can actually add a large number of SLP strings to your bios and have a multi-XP bios. In the XP thread, we routinely add 6+ strings for compressability at the very least. For SSv3 and 0+2 mods manual, it is easier to match module size with more than one SLP.

SLIC is (was?)the dangerous one, changing bios code is never 100%

Never flash from Windows!!!!! There are so many "great" tools you can download from the mainboard manufacturer sites to flash within Windows but i haven´t seen one tool, that does it correctly. I broke my ASUS P5N-SLI two years ago with a Windows flashing tool from ASUS!!!!!

Always use the good old Floppy drive ;)

Asrock bios 775i65GV 'failed to reinsert 1B module' Error

    Hi Guys

I have been trying to mod an Asrock bios 775i65GV using the AMI slic tools and keep coming up with the error 'not enough space -'file exceeds 94h bytes' (or something like that -it goes so quickly there's not much chance to read it) and finishes with the error 'failed to reinsert 1B module' Any ideas?

I have modded a couple of other Asrock bios successfully - it's just this one that repeatedly comes up with the same error. I have downloaded the bios several times and tried different slic tools but always the same. Any help would be much appreciated

    regards

There are already "2" 775i65G BIOS modified with SLIC 2.1. Did these not suit your needs? You can search the thread labeled all BIOS SLIC 2.1 and find them I think. I too have a 775i65G, but have not tried them yet myself.

    What is your goal?

    Good luck

So... Should I NOT insert the SLP (because if it will not work it would irrelevant to use it) or should I just go ahead and mod it with the DELL SLIC after all (Like everyone else seems to be doing it) In the end, the SLP only works if you're planning to install XP right? Or was it WHS?(I think so at least...)
Seeing as you're obviously the guy with the most knowledge in BIOS modding in here (Or at least you appear to be) What would YOU PERSONALLY recommend? Sticking with DELL or trying my own mobos brand? Or maybe HP or something else?
    Thanks again.

If you use XP, use whatever SLP you want with the address range 000FE000h-000FE100h. You can even add more than one in the .txt file like:

    Code:
    Dell SystemHewlett-PackardASUS_FLASHTOSHIBA
If you dont use XP, Leave it alone. I do not add to MSI unless the person want to activate XP with dell or HP. MSI is out of range and difficult to add. Some SLP strings only have a 6 byte range..kinda tight.:D

Short story....If you use XP add one.If you DO NOT use XP. Leave it blank..

Space and offsets. These bios seem to be sensitive to the difference in checksum also. You may notice that the slic table in the bios did not checksum 0?? Some do not, and are compensated for elsewhere.

We have been using ISA for these for many moons, and simply for this reason. All shuttle bios start with this ISA type mod. Most on the forum are this type.. Sometimes you must move the ISA up to get in in range, but this is rare. I usually remove the epa, insert ISA and reinsert the epa at the end. Not very orthodox, but it works..and it is done manually with cbrom..
