Ok this p5e3 situation is destroying my brain, i've tried everything also to get a working mod, 6 different attempts now and RSDT just wont stick, I can get the slic's no problem but RSDT just won't happen, I just don't know what to do with this one, has anyone successfully modded an older version of the bios, maybe 1404 is not worth the hassles
I have not seen one. Have you tried thw AFlash /all. Somewhere the IDs are being input by the bios code..
Did the award mod tool work? how can I check modded version? ok, I tried the Award tool and I thought the tool worked because I received successful message at the very end. I used the HP slic2.1 + HP slp and verified the cert found on the 39-certs.rar on the first post. Program proceeded nicely and success message came up. I have an AOPEN ak79d-400vn and I download the original bios file from aopen.com. The tool suggested I do 0+2. Has Phoenix-Award bios. I flashed new modded bios using DOS because ezflash doesn't work in w7. I did get the checkum error and that's why ezflash wouldn't work (flash button is grayed out). Since checksum error is mentioned in the first post I continued in DOS. Now when I use RW-Everything it freezes/crashes but before the slic mod the ACPI table RW-E function worked without crashing the whole app. The only thing I think I did wrong was I entered the OEM key when I first install W7, hadn't heard about this forum yet lol to guide me, did not know to leave it alone/blank. This wasn't a problem on the IBM T-60 laptop, I entered the OEM from the beginning. Used the modded bios found on one of the threads did the cmd slmg etc. commands and successful activation, no expiration date. Different story in my Aopen desktop. I even used the 7 1.5 loader, clicked 'slick 2.1 in bios' the two windows pop up success, but when I use the tool to check activation, I get the expiration day! Anybody come across this issue? What can I do to get activated? I haven't install 1.5 loader yet. Anyway to check if bios now has slic2.1
I suppose you can use the slic dump tool. It will give you a decent idea of SLIC status. The serial has nothing to do with the problem, a least when you entered it..entering it at the beginning will not prevent activation. Try the dump. The tool automatically defaults to 0+1 with other bios. I would try the OEM7 mod with black EPA at end..This is possible with the tool and some advanced menu options.. The 0_1 does not work as often as OEM7, but you have to play with what you are dealt...YA know....
Flash Fails: Identical ID Recently, 911medic helped provide mod for AMI Bios on Intel 915GAG motherboard (Sony Vaio VGC-RB30 Desktop). Modded EV0062P.BIO would upgrade slic to 2.1. In May, the actual bios was upgraded from older base to allow slic 2.0, which worked fine. There may not be any future upgrades from Sony for this series. The final appears to be the EV0062. I flash with a bootable DOS CD (there is no floppy) using the Sony supplied iflash63.exe. That method is known to work. However, now it does not allow re-flashing because the BIO file contains same BIOSID. Of course, I do not have any older versions, even if that might work, and there is no Sony source for older versions. So...we need to 'trick' the upgrade. I looked at switches using /h and see no options to force writes. So, my ideas for possibilities. 1) Find way to force writing with other flasher or using some switch. 2) Hexedit iflash63.exe to disable same id check. 3) Hexedit .BIO file to fake higher version id. The Sony support site does not mention hard reset writes using recovery CD, but the Intel site manual on the motherboard does tell how to do that. I confirmed the presence of a removable jumper for the AMI bios, and their instructions on making a recovery CD containing only a BIO file. But, it is not clear if that would work on the Sony model. I am retired on a pension, and cannot afford at this time to buy new hardware not the software price. The installed Ultimate is the x86 version verified on the MSDN site. So, my only good options would be either a valid MSDN key (none published work for online activation, in my attempts) or find a way to force re-flashing. This is my only computer, so of course I am leery of doing damage from which I might not recover. During hurricane Katrina, I lost two other computers, along with purchased retail copies of XP Pro ( over $400 cost). Microsoft refused to provide me with a replacement, saying at the time it should have been insured. Well, it wasn't, so please forgive me for wanting to do things this way! By the way, I prefer not to use softmods because I want to encrypt the entire drive with either TrueCrypt or BestCrypt. And, anyway, it is so much better to do the mod, if just for the technical challenge? Can the experts in this forum suggest a way forward?
ASUS P5E3 SLIC 2.1 issue I downgraded the bios from 1404 on the P5E3 to 1002 (1 april 2008). (You can not downgrade with the flash utilities: Bootable USB or Windows Utility, because they do not allow. So I had to flash a corrupt bios first! And with the ASUS BIOS recovery I loaded 1002 with the SLIC 2.1 Dell modded version 1002). Still no activation and Slic Dump gives the same error X&RSTD as with 1404. Question: are there other ASUS boards that are (almost) not Slickable? Or is it just this one? Applegate.
Ok, i have a question, why is there such a rush to mod a bios if you still have the ability to take advantage of the grace period feature? i mean why go thru the trouble of modding your bios if your not sure which key is going to be leaked the soonest? i was playing around with the mod tool for my Asus m2n-sli deluxe and i generated bios' for a number of oems' and which ever key gets leaked first, well thats the bios ill flash. am i missing something here with the mad dash to flash your bios? If my theory is off please tell me! Thanks oh, great forum!
You are missing the fact that the Key is only specific to the Version of Windos 7 that you install, ie Ultimate key for Win 7 Ultimate, Professional key for Win 7 Professional. The modded BIOS will activate Win 7 with any Valid OEM key as long as the Certificate you use matches the SLIC that you added to your Modded BIOS.
So, your saying that if i flash my bios with the Dell example on the first page of this thread and use the leaked Lenovo key it will activate because its a Ultimate key and the fact that its a Lenovo key has NO bearing on the topic? Thanks for the reply!!
That's EXACTLY what I'm saying !!! Mine is a Sony PC with HP SLIC 2.1 added to the BIOS when I modded it. I used the Lenovo Key with HP-XRM.MS on Win 7 Ultimate and I have a Permanently Activated Win 7 Ultimate running as I type.
You see, i did not know that!! I had figured that they would have tied the key to the certification. So then its just a matter of eenie-meenie-minee-mo when selecting a oem to match with your bios and the tool will tell you if its cool or not. Well gaw-lee!! Thanks buddy!
