Thank you again 911medic, is there a down side for using ISA mod?
From what i found regarding the SSV3 slowdown it seems to be in boot time is that right?

I have modified the bios for a abit NF7-N motherboard using the above awardtool tutorial with DELL_QA09.BIN SLIC and DELL SLP all appeared to work OK however after I flashed the BIOS (OS currently running windows XP) XP failed to load past the boot up screen and continued rebooting. however I was able to load a knoppix live cd without any problems.
After re-flashing the genuine bios the machine booted XP without any problems.
Any ideas what could cause this.

    Thanks

You will need to run a repair install or just reinstall the XP. This OS is very sensitive to board changes. The bios is the next best thing..

caveat utilitor my brother. If you want to use a "simple" tool to alter the bios, perhaps a little research is in order. The info is available in the these forums in huge quantities. We also picked the defaults for a reason..stick to them with the indicated oems in the menu..Odd bios may be inquired here..

BTW: 0+2 will not brick, it simply will not allow you to save bios settings.

*-In response to the cbrom question..

    from the command prompt...

    directory\>cbrom bios.bin /acpitbl extract

acpi and acpitbl are totally different..do not confuse..

you need to have the bios file and the cbrom in the same directory, cd to that directory..

No down side to using the ISA. The sleep issues have been all but eliminated.

    Thanks
I will give it a go I did not realise that changing the bios could cause XP to fail.

The acpitbl has been altered. You could try to reset the acpi in device manager, and reload the driver..I am not sure I remember how though...

If MS blacklists the Key you use, you just have to enter a New valid key to Re-Act*vate Win 7 if you have a modified BIOS.

I see. This is basically the smae draw back as using a loader then. Im just trying to understand why the bios mod method is better than using a loader ? :D

because ms can kill the whole program loader then you cant enter a new key at all you have to install a new loader. they cant kill your bios
