To answer all your questions, the answer is yes to all of them. You can flash bios before installing Windows 7....you can use eazy flash with no problems and you will be able to activate windows 7 with hp slic 2.1
Did you use the slmgr.vbs commands in Command Prompt and did you run command prompt by right clicking on it and RUN AS ADMIN.
Hi,thanks for the reply, the answer to all your questions is yes, after reboot w7 still needs to be activated, maybe i need a different bios mod,i have tried daz loader and it shows avtivated but i would like to have the bios mod as i feel its going to be the way to go.
I modded my brother Asus M2N68 bios with slic 2.1, flashed it and when I use the Windows 7 loader v1.5 I get an error message SLUI.exe it wont activate
got it working by using Windows 7 Loader v1.5.5 (x86 - x64) by Daz - DM999 . selected the bios mod users install certificate and serial and it activated straight away
As I understand, Windows 7 Loader is a softmod method to emulate OEM activation. BIOS SLIC 2.1 mod is hardware mod for OEM Activation. Usually people don't mix this two togather, as one method should be enough to do the work.
You cant mix the two. Either you get errors, or the loader overwrites the bios mod. It is not at all recommended, and will cause issues down the road. \ I believe that the tool he is speaking of also offers to only install the certificate and serial...Not actually install a loader..
Questions on using the Award BIOS Tool I want to try modding my own BIOS. I have an EVGA 650i Ultra motherboard. When I run the Award Tool v1.24 and go to choose manufactuer it gives two EVGA options: EVGA (traditional) and EVGS (Special) Which do I chose? And for SLIC file the only choices are Dell, HP, Lenova & MSI. Can I use any one of these or must it be an EVGA SLIC? If so where can I find one? Likewise for the SLP, do I need to have an EVGA SLP file? Again, if so, where can I find one. Thanks in advance for any help tou can give.
Never mind - I got it.... I ran the Award Tool v1.24 and for manufactuer chose EVGA (traditional). For the SLIC file the I picked the HP.bin file. For the SLP I picked the HP.txt file. For the Certificate I chose the HP-COMPAQ.xrm-ms file. I then checked off the ISA Method and hit OK. It created the new BIOS. On Verify it failed but I understand that's normal for an Award BIOS. I flashed the new BIOS via the floppy drive (safest method). I used the OpaTool v0.3 to install the Cert & OEM key. Everything seems fine. Windows is Activated!
leave the cert out of the process, verify is not necessary either. Just the bios, slic.bin, and slp.txt (if you want)..hit go...
oh geek mine is an Award Bios .. I don't really have any flash utility since HP (my manufacture) used the 'Burn CD' type to update bios. The problem is : I used a program called : Flashmenu for Abit Motherboard to flash and update my bios .. Instead - it now deleted my SLIC Table and I'm sort of having a 'old' bio startup screen instead of HP Boot Splash .. Any idea what should I do now ?
Didnt I upload you the files..You have the necessary files to flash the bios..see your thread.... Put them om a floppy or usb as is and run autoexec..
Alright, I'm stupid. I am using the AMI SLIC Mod, and I am fine up to the point where I need a cert. Where do I get one? XD Stupid question, I know, but.. Thanks in advance. EDIT: I use a Compaq Presario SR1034NX, so I chose the HP 2.1 SLIC since I am trying to activate Win7, and HP SLP.
Thank you very much! One question though: Everything seemed to go through smoothly, but when I pop open dxdiag, my BIOS version still shows 08/27/04 and the Version is still 3.28. How do I check my SLIC version, because now I am unsure if it flashed properly?
You can use the SLICDUMP tool thingy, or you can use the RWEverything to dump the slic table. If it activated, it is updated..
Had a go at it but!!! I tried to modify a BIOS myself using the awdtool 1.24 but after three tries everyone failed for one reason or another. Here is the Slic.log file for my last attempt
After your machine successfully activated windows 7 with moded bios and when you send the command slmg -dlv you will get something not like windows vista Look from the bottom you see: Remainding Windows rearm count: 3 IS YOUR MACHINE TRUELY ACTIVATED?. Ask your self this question...
