It is written with Chinese programming language, most likely. I have not seen a virus in it...

    Hi all!
I have a notebook MSI VR601X. I tried the Amitool that finaly failed. All options are grayed out but dynamic. "Failed to shrink B1 module" displayed and the procedure fails.
Also at the begining it says slic 2.0 appears already. What to do with the error up?
    Thanks!

I got a Gigabyte mainboard and can't find the SLP text string for this brand. The tutorial states, that you don't need to enter that string - are there any downsides to leaving it blank?

Can't MS check if the string is present and if its not, deactivate Windows (theoretically)? They prob don't do it right now, I'm just a little worried bout the future.

Step 11 clarification of post number one needed.

I think I understand your procedure, but need a little clarification for your comment at step 11.

    Here is my situation:
I currently have a Gigabyte EP35-DS3P running an older F3 BIOS. It has the SLP 1.0 with the text string "Dell System" imbedded in the bios plus the SLP 2.0 for Dell also. Both of XP and all Vista installs using Dell CDs work fine. I am not using any kind of boot loaders, etc..
Now I would like to add the SLP 2.1 for Dell also for Windows 7.

    Question number 1.
When trying this on a newer bios, are these selections correct?

    1. I download a more current bios (F6) from Gigabyte and load it into the awardtool.exe version 1.25. -> the manufacturer shows Gigabyte and the SSV3 is preslected buy the program. (sounds good so far.)
    2. In the SLIC file box I select" "AwardModTool125\WORKING SLIC_CERTS2.1\DELL\DELL QA09.BIN" as per your comments.
    3. In the SLP File box I select: "awardtool125\SLP\Dell.txt" containing the words Dell System.
    4. I click the Verify button on nest to theCertificate box and point to "awardtool125\AwardModTool125\certs (vista)\DELL.XRM-MS" -> The program pops up a message that says DELL QA09.BIN matches certificate. (still sounds good so far.)
    5. I click the advanced button and see there are 7 options checked by default. -> I make no changes and click the Done button.
    6. I click the Verify button and the log window appears to have good messages but it sais the bios checksum might be invalid.
    7. I click the Go button and get a SLIC performed successfully. message.

    Question number 2.
By using the SLIC file "DELL QA09.BIN" , will I break my activation for the Vista I have already installed?

    Question number 3.
Will I need to make any changes to my Dell Vista disks tthat I used for installing Vista back in 2008?

I think I have done everything correct here, but just want to be sure before I flash the new BIOS. Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    jj

    PS. This program is terriffic!

Dont follow the "tutorial" as gospel. It is full of bad information.

Use Any dell slic and slp if you want.

I say again, there are many inconsistencies and fallacies in the first page info..

Do not use the verify button before mod..it is not going to do anything but perhaps throw errors..

Only use the Bios box, manufacturer box, Slic box, and SLP box...First four boxes only. You can check the cert later if necessary.

No changes should be necessary for the remained activation

Many thanks for the quick reply.
Now that you see what I'd like to do in the previous append,
I will redo this using your advice and select the Manufacturer,SLIC and SLP boxes only.

Will I be ok on the disks I already have , and gain windows 7?
